Heard today that Lever is very likely to stay at the Crows just haggling over some final details likely to be a 4 year deal should be done and dusted before the finals start
Michael Close is a interesting one he was getting games until he got injured his acl in 2015 which kept him down the most of 2016 as well.
Has played 6 games this season for 5 goals. But hasn't been able to hold a regular spot as Hipwood has been sensational for them.
He's tall and young might be worth a look if they don't want the world for him
Was pick 32 in 2012 as a 18yr old so might be able to land him for a exchange sending Oxley there with a 4th round pick or some future exchange upgrading them in a second round position |

If Cal Twomey's phantom draft is any guide it looks like we are going to be at the right end of the draft at the wrong time.
Looks like this years crop is full of midfielders & flankers whereas our major structural problem appears to be quality talls - at least one to play forward and one to play back.
Think this poses quite a dilemma for our recruiting department.
Do you take a medium term view (say 3 to 5 years) and recruit the best midfielders/running type players and address our non-spine problems in this draft or do you take potentially lesser quality talls (recognising that the odds diminish that they will develop into the players we need them to be).
Suspect to appease fans they will probably go with a hybrid strategy of recruiting a Sam Reid type as an interim solution and best available talls from this years draft.
Point I am making is that the recruitment of potentially B+ grade talls and hoping that our development processes will somehow turn them into A graders is in my opinion somewhat a leap of faith.
I don't profess to have the answers but I do think it helps to acknowledge some of the strategic decisions our recruiting team will be wrestling with. |

Am hearing GC are very keen on Degoey. Might be why he is getting midfield time to increase his trade value. Gc are looking for a bigger bodied mid with Prestia, Jaeger and Ablett all leaving _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

There is no way I'd trade De Goey for Peter Wright - he has shown no more than Darcy - Tom Lynch would be better and I'd send Sidebottom + our first pick

Best player available please, even if it's a mid. How did the big talls go for Sydney in the GF last year, against a team full of mids? Big key position players are not our problem. Our problem is we can't move the ball quickly, and we can't kick, and turn it over.
And DeGoey is off limits thanks. |

Wonder if Hine would trade our first rounder for Tippett?
If there are no talls by the time our pick comes up, do we have a choice? _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

I mostly agree although I think you might be minimising KPP needs at Collingwood.
To trade DeGoey they would have to offer us something very "special" to quote Bruce _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

DeGoey is the guy you make trades to GET, not to give up. He is the best of our young midfield talent. And i am including Treloar and Adams in that group of young players.
Degoey will be one of the top 10 mids in the league within 3 years. Pretty sure we have seen enough to KNOW this.
do something unusual and give up some midfield talent to get a gun KPP. I'm all for it. but when you are trading strength (i.e., midfielders) for weakness (KPP), you are supposed to trade the depth, not the front end talent. and certainly not the front end talent that has their entire career in front of them.
this is the order in which i would offer players up from last to first out of our midfield.
DeGoey, Treloar, Pendles, Adams, Sidey, and then every one else is probably up for grabs in a deal that will get a future great KPP. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Post subject: Could Free Agent Casboult help our Forward Line ? | |
|
I was watching some of the Bluescum game last night, and I must admit, that Levi Casboult has improved his kicking for goal remarkably well, hes become kinda lethal up forward nowdays. Seeing he is a total free agent, as I was informed by a Blues fan on Bigfooty, can go where he likes, they have no say in it, would he be worth us getting him to the Pies, to help out young Darcy ? Id still use our first draft pick to snare a young KPP Forward for the long term, but maybe Casboult can help us a fair bit short term. ?
