I was thinking the same; just bookmark that pick to see if retaining list-cloggers in Blair, Sier, and Mayne, comes back to haunt us.... |
Nothing to do with these players. We had a list spot free, just didn't want anyone who was available and passed, as did Geelong soon after. _________________ Well done boys! |

Who did you like?
Dom Barry had been linked by some to us.
Joel Garner was expected to be drafted.
Those two were the players immediately taken after our pass by Port Adelaide.
The rest were either names I didn't recognise so can't comment or recycled like Hartung and Garlett. |
I don't follow u18s to know. I'd be guessing. But Joel Garner was statistically ranked highly on fox. So that would be my punt.
Guess they use the rookie draft and fill the list from that. But there is often a gem there in the last 20 odd picks. Ours will have to be in the rookie list. |

Apparently we were unlikely to use all four picks unless there was someone we particularly wanted available so I’m assuming even though we had to go early on Brown that it pretty much went to Plan. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

I think I heard that Joel Garner was described as a 6' left foot running defender.I really doubt we need another one of these as our running half back stocks are very high, particularly picking up Sam Murray from Sydney. As for not picking up a couple of talls,we have Sam McClarty ,who has been in the system a year or 2?? now and Max Lynch who is a big unit and a back up ruckman as well and I'm pretty sure there are a couple of kids who've had a year or 2 in VFL system and will be filtered into the AFL team.I really think we have a fair list and if we can keep them injury free we'll play finals next year. |

Someone posted our rookie history over at bigfooty from 2012 on and it didn't make good reading.
At present only Cox as an original category B looks capable of being considered a win down the track.
In comparison our 2010 premiership side was full of players who started out as rookie selections.
I can only imagine that the expansion teams have played some part in this due to the dilution of the talent pool by a further 2 sides and original concessions.
Unless a mature aged Ben Brown type key forward prospect is available then I think we need to focus on defensive talls as history shows the likelihood of picking up a quality key forward in the rookie draft is basically zilch. Success though has been unearthed down the other end of the ground. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I recommend Bailey Henderson for one of our rookies. ive coached him as a junior. castlemaine stratfieldsaye bendigo pioneers pedigree. Rangy key position loves to work and run who is smart around the contest. loves bringing his team mates into the play. friendly demanour to all off the field. natural leader. would love Bailey to get a go in the b&w _________________ woodsmen rule |

So we've picked up one KPP who's unlikely to amount to much.
I'll give that a pass, as one is the closest number to zero. That's as long as we don't again risk our season by playing him in Round 1. _________________ Well done boys! |
