If we want short term key position depth then Lachlan Hansen is someone I'd look at.
Like Dunn his best football has been played at the latter stages of his career and was forced aside like Dunn also in favour of younger players.
Doesn't turn 30 until next August and if his body is currently in good condition he's the most talented IMO of the DFA bunch.
After Hansen then Crameri is the next best based on footballing talent and exposed form at AFL level IMO.
If we want to look at someone younger then we should be giving Tyler Keitel an opportunity though he'd have to be drafted in the national or rookie draft.
Made the WAFL team of the year two years running and in the position of full back, then full forward this season.
For a late pick seems like a no brainer to me. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Plenty, I assume, but as with Richards the family link doesn't work in our favour, and we're hardly in the position to get him the regular way. |

I don't care if we don't sign any of these DFA key position players. But if we do, I hope we never play them.
The absolute definition of list cloggers are these KPP that no one else wants. We've just got rid of a few of them in the last two years, no real need to bring in more.
I think we have enough cover in our existing list and from whatever we draft. No problem with going slightly undersized if we had multiple KPP injuries. Better than playing blokes like Hansen who are past it or Collins and Close who never made it. I'd play Goldsack at CHB before wasting any time on these.
Our mistake of playing Schade early this year was costly. If we don't have these duds on our list, we can't make the mistake of playing them. Simply not needed. _________________ Well done boys! |

i agree. As long as we can get one of Dunn or McLarty on the field for every game where the opponent has a beast (WCE, Sydney, Adelaide, GWS, GC, NM, Ess, Geelong - am i missing one) i think we will cover back there with Scharenberg, goldsack and Howe, all of whom can play on secondary talls of the opposition. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/stewart-crameri-yet-to-be-contacted-by-clubs-ahead-of-delisted-free-agency-period-20171030-gzb49q.html
Quote: |
Fairfax Media understands no clubs have signalled their interest in Crameri at this stage.
He would likely have moved back to Essendon in the trade period had they not secured Jake Stringer from the Bulldogs.
Geelong had been interested in Crameri but don't have a spot on their list for him. The Brisbane Lions and the Gold Coast Suns are also understood to not be in the running for Crameri.
...
Meanwhile, delisted Hawthorn speedster Billy Hartung is more confident of finding a new home for 2018.
It is understood he has been contacted by clubs and, like Crameri, is happy to take his chance as a delisted free agency signing or as a rookie.
|
As I indicated previously, I share the clubs' lack of interest in Crameri. |

By all reports Starcevich is someone who would be in the mix still at 38 as best available.
His chances to come to Collingwood would seem enhanced if we went a kp tall at pick 6 in Naughton.
Unlikely he'll remain until our next selection in the 50's. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

He's projected to go mid to late second round in the phantom drafts so I'm guessing we are a chance but more likely a WA club will beat us to the punch. |

We've missed out on Mullett.
We've missed out on McKenzie.
Pretty much the two players I would have loved to sign as DFA's. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I'm guessing this leaves Billy Hartung, Sharrod Wellingham and Stewart Crameri as the best remaining RFA's.
How good is Hartung?
Michael Close and Jonathan Freeman are two FF's that the Lions have let go of. I think we could look at one of them for 2018. I'm leaning towards Freeman. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Its been suggested elsewhere that we sent Crameri for medical tests. |
