I have a mate who is ExecutiveChef at Padme resort so why bother with street food. The pasta and scallops are delicious.

Never been to Asia and have no real desire to.

I considered going to Bali long and hard about 12 months back, but decided against it and that moment is now past.

I'm past the stage where cheap holidays in 3rd world countries has much appeal

That would be a no. Why would you when you can dine on lobster and a huge seafood platter for about $30 inside?

I'd just about kill for a week in Bali right about now, let alone a month. Enjoy!

Arrived in Bali Saturday, first meal Satay Chicken. No dog on offer. Apparently the Government have done some serious investigations over the story and surprisingly can't find the source of the story. Walked along the beach and I've checked out the local food on offer and sorry to disappoint but no dog.

I can say WA Bogan count is lower than previous years and the weather is 28/30. Beers bloody cold and it's good to be away from Melbourne

Cheers

Enjoy.

The thing that really surprised me about Bali was the food. It's fabulous. So easy to find decent portions of healthy fresh food. The fruit is to die for. (And so is the weather! It's not the cold that's the killer here, it's the bloody wind!)

Racking up plenty of kms walking and the foods great. Had some great Mexican at lunch yesterday and we were so full we didn't bother with dinner last night. Been for my morning walk and just downloaded Game of Thrones to watch later. Now to tackle the buffet and to contemplate what to do in paradise.

Is there much in the news about the ongoing genocide in West Papua or the 500,000 people killed by the Indonesian military?

Paradise for some perhaps.

Nothing in the local newspapers or on Australian news. Australia a pulled out of West Papua a few decades ago. We don't give a shit about them like we don't give a shit about refugees Skids.

I think we do actually care about genuine refugees.

t’s the 1st of July, 2013

Arlince Tabuni, a 12 year old Melanesian West Papuan girl, daughter of a pastor is enjoying life in her village highlands village of Popume.
Suddenly, at 17:30, four fully armed Indonesian soldiers drive into the village with loaded guns. They briefly interrogate a member of her family and then demand he leaves the scene. They then proceed towards Arlince’s house.

Seeing the soldiers, Arlince tries to run away.

The military fire 3 shots, she is hit in the neck and chest and dies.

In response to protests by the local community and outrage by Papuans across West Papua, the military at first denies the shooting and then claims they opened fire due to a sense of “excess frustration, and panic”.

This sufficiently  satisfies the Indonesian government who give full impunity to the soldiers who fired the shots. They hold no investigation and say nothing of the matter.

These are precisely the sort of conditions that many of the people we currently imprison are fleeing from.

^ do we know that ? It does not seem to be true in much of Europe. And why do so many come without passports and travel past so many other countries to get here ?
