Simple question, poll is a yes or no answer, feel free to elaborate.

The question was inspired by Tannin's comment in DTM's thread about Channel 10 and Piracy, cropped version here.

Tannin wrote:
Free to air TV died years ago. It's still walking and talking out of habit, not because it has a beating heart. The zombie companies still operating in the free to air market are on borrowed time. Even old people are switching off in their tens of thousands now. Why would anyone want to watch CH 10 when they have so many superior alternatives? The only people I know who still watch free to air TV are my parents, and they are in their eighties. And they only watch the ABC and SBS. Even they are starting to use on-demand sources now. Most younger people switched off years ago.

I watch FTA TV. I also have Foxtel and Netflix and DVD's.

During the week, I'll watch FTA TV at night after getting home from work, generally stuff I can half watch and listen to while doing something else. Like posting on Nicks, reading stuff online or cooking dinner. The only time I'll sit down and give the idiot box my full attention is either when there's something I actually want to watch which is usually either Collingwood, a show on Foxtel or Netflix or a movie.

On weekends the TV doesn't go on (unless I'm watching Collingwood) until usually 6pm.

So, do you watch FTA TV, yes or no. qualifications and elaborations in your post.

Rarely enough to say no. Sometimes catch up on Media Watch online or watch the football (but generally just watch it on my phone now).

Yes, I only watch FTA TV. I often time-shift and, once in a blue moon, I will watch ABC i-view or SBS on demand to see something I forgot to watch, or missed (or, in some rare cases, that wasn't actually shown - so far as I can see - on FTA, like some of the Danish and Swedish SBS TV shows).

I got Stan over the Xmas hols to keep the children happy. Have watched Billionaires, a Jimi Hendrix biopic (ordinary movie but Waddy Wachtel's guitar-playing is magical, BTW) and a couple of Kurosawa movies on it and, if House of Cards were on it, I'd watch that, too (but I'll probably buy a DVD of House of Cards when it eventually comes out).

I occasionally watch a Collingwood game that isn't FTA at a pub and I might do the same with the World Cup soccer if it wasn't FTA or the European Championship if the Dutch were playing (ad it wasn't the middle of the night)

I watch FTA every night.
Usually try to catch the news (no particular channel)
Monday nights I'll watch HYBPA
Tuesday will be Shark Tank
Wednesday try to catch The Simpsons or Family Guy on 7mate
Nothing much Thursday unless the footy is on
Footy Friday night
Footy Saturday night or Live at the Apollo / comedy shows on ABC 2
Sunday whatever.

So yes, I'm a Vote for FTA.

Yes, we have Netflix & Stan & watch FTA.

We also watch iView & SBS on demand. All FTA.

Fox or whatever is simply a rip off but I would like the BBC channel, HBO & fox footy or bits of it, the cricket but not 95% of the shite that is pay TV.

Although we're watching less TV these days.

Groucho Marx found TV very educational: When the TV was on at his place he'd go to another room & read a book!

iView & SBS on demand are not FTA! The "A" stands for "air". Watching re-runs on the Internet doesn't count.

I watch it on my TV screen and I don't pay for it.

Having said that we have too many DVD's & as I mentioned earlier we do pay for Netflix & Stan which we share between us & our oldest who lives elsewhere.

They're my viewing habits in any case.

Less has become more recently.

(David Stratton's take on Movies was wonderful to see - the last one was just on a couple of hours ago. It was on FTA & I recorded it so might transfer it from HDD to DVD).

Not much. The news while we eat dinner (only if hubby is home! Me and the girls prefer less dismal stuff!). I just sat through a heap of stuff I recorded on Foxtel while we were away, trying to get back on Aussies time! It's 6.50 am in La! I keep falling asleep at about 4-5 and then I wake up at a ridiculous time! I'd done 4 hours of paperwork by 10am today! And then I'm toast!

I'll watch the footy when it's on (don't have Foxtel sport, but I'm going to ring them in the next week or so to see if I can get a better deal).

Pretty much ABC and SBS. It's gotta be something extraordinary for me and Mrs MM to watch the commercial stations.

Yep I don't have any sort of pay tv!

Stan and Netflix we would struggle to get where we are!

Fox is too dear for what I would want from it, which would be just the sports and if I had it it would have to be in 2 separate rooms which also adds to the cost!
