Should the Queens Birthday match be rotated so Melbourne no longer receive the gate takings every year? |

Don't think the AFL has been it that MND is the focus but yes the gate receipts should be split from on. |

If Melbourne isn't prepared to share the home game status, then I'd rather have a bye and a long weekend.
The event status and big home crowd gives them an advantage every year.
Now that they are back on their feet, let 'em find another sucker. |

There's simply no need for us to be playing in this game if it's a Melbourne home game every year, and that part isn't going to change.
We should request that someone else plays Melbourne next QB, and we resort to a normal Saturday or Sunday game.
Enough of this charity for clubs who acsolutely despise us. |
This. Couldn't agree more. _________________ Go Pies! |

I believe that Her Birthday and Anzac Day should now be given to the AFL to spread accordingly. I have always thought the Anzac match should be a GF replay on the MCG. There must be some way to give significance to Her Birthday that doesn't involve continually giving Redlegs a final in June. Perhaps one plays two? _________________ Magpies forever.

Would be more than happy for the game to be given to another club. Can't stand playing these pricks on this day. It's there bloody Grand Final. Probably still sour from the loss but bugger it. |

I feel this could be an issue that should be bought up at the next AGM. I would love to know how other supporters feel about Melbourne being given the gate takings every season by Collingwood for goodness knows how many years. I was trying to remember the exact year it started, but was unsure.
Anyway - just putting out the feelers to see if others feel that we should start rotating the home team again for the Queens Birthday game.
Thanks! |
Jen, good to see you back!
A few of us have arrived at the conclusion that since this game is now the AFL focal point of awareness for MND [and that's great...] that it is time to pass the baton over to Essendon, as Neale has affiliation obviously with both clubs.
And the occasion is only going to grow in stature should he pass in the next few years.
So perhaps one more QB clash in 2018 should see us out?
Oh, yes - and we're sick of propping up other ungrateful clubs too.
Would you be able to edit your pole to reflect this option please, my dear?

Heresy I know but the best way to get at them is not go. Unless you already have a season ticket or an AFL/MCC member. If 30000 stayed home the Demons would be bleating badly. Stuff em. Neale Daniher had nothing to connect us to him Agreed, it should be Essendon. Suggest we have season opener against them. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

It's the only game Melbourne supporters turn up to simple. It's their Grand Final.
Can someone tell weren't we meant to be playing all our home games at the MCG not Etihad was this mention at AGM couple of years ago??? _________________ 2016 Player Sponsor for Travis Varcoe

Ditto.
I'd much rather play on Friday or Saturday and enjoy the long weekend.
Plus, as others have said, giving them the gate every year when we also get slugged on equalisation and taxed on the support crew........**** em. Rotate the home game, or split the proceeds, or **** off. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Happy to get rid of it...
1. Hate we don't get any of the gate
2. Their crowd shites me
3. One less 'blockbuster' game where the shite teams use us as their grand final.
4. The fixture is becoming boring _________________ Beware the swooping Magpie. |

Such a great idea!
Unfortunately, I cannot edit the poll so what I have done is edited the original post to let people know that if they would like to hand the match over to (for example) Ess and Melbourne, to respond in the thread.
I think there is definitely a consensus that it is time to stop the charity to Melbourne! _________________ HANDS OFF OUR JUMPER

Just another example of how some clubs need Collingwood to survive.
It's their only blockbuster. It's the only game you see Melbourne fans celebrate when they win.
Beating us means so much more to them than anyone else.
The AFL wont take it off them. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

I'm sick to death of propping up charity cases like the dees. They don't deserve it and use the occasion to piss on our faces year in year out. Keep in mind that they systematically cheated the afl for years in order to obtain high draft picks by deliberately tanking, and when they couldn't pay their fine - we, and every other so called 'rich' club did it for them.
They get a bye before this game while we were coming off a trip to perth. Hell we even got screwed over earlier in the year when we played the scum in our 125 year anniversary game when we were forced to play 3 games in 12 days!!
Then they were handed roos which was paid for buy the likes of us and were even compensated for scully leaving for the giants. Apparently we agree to this deal in return for more games at the mcg (or so says eddy) I call BS on that and it's about time we told them and the afl to get stuffed. It's not like we'd be made to play more games at etihad, so I wouldn't be too worried there. We have the numbers and the afl need our money.
To ad insult to injury we pay a bullshit equalisation tax to help them and all the other piss stain clubs out who can't be bothered fending for themselves. Clubs like this are akin to dole bludgers who choose to live off welfare and believe the world owes them a living.
Either we demand a slice of the pie or ditch it altogether. If it's going to be raising more awareness about mnd which is fine then it would be more fitting that essendope were involved rather than us seeing as though daniher played for them and coached the dees. Let them have it.
If I seem harsh it's only because I hate these parasites and I'm still reeling from yesterday. |
