Looks likely Nadal will win his 18th slam and his 12th French Open title tonight.

Nadal takes the first set 6-3 in 53 minutes, after Thiem got the first break of serve.

That was tennis from another planet.
...

But Thiem takes the second set 7-5. It's now one set all.
...

Nadal leads 3-0 in the third set, with a double break. He won the first 11 points of the set.
A brilliant drop volley from Nadal off a searing attempted pass earns a thumbs up from Thiem.

Nadal breaks for the third time to take the third set 6-1. He now leads two sets to one.
...

Nadal saves a break point in the first game of the fourth set. He then immediately breaks Thiem's serve to go 2-0 up. He needs to save two more break points in the next game but survives. 3-0. Thiem then fights back from 0-40 to hold. 3-1. But Nadal gets a second break for a 5-1 lead and will serve for the match.

Rafael Nadal does it! A 12th French Open title!
...

Rod Laver presents the trophy. There are prolonged cheers for Thiem, as well as Nadal.

In the fourth set, Federer breaks serve.

.......................................................

And finally, after failing to convert many match points in the final two games, Federer is through to the final in 4 sets.

Federer's 31st GS Final and Djokovic's 25th GS Final.

Crazy.

i hope the old guy wins, id love to have seen Nadal there, but his game was always about power, and injuries were always going to cruel him, whereas the swiss master is skill, and while a couple of his tantrums have left me cold, he has donated millions of his own money to start schools in Africa so good on him!

and hes a dad!!
