Like Dermie?

Yeah because we went so well in 1995 when he was with us.

Nope, I don't think Tippett will even get a contract next year, anywhere.

Sav Rocca's career-best year ring a bell?

But on the original subject, no. Tippett is finished.

Yes, have to defend Dermie with the Bat; if you watch any of Rocca's marking contests from 1995, chances are you will see Brereton in there, not competing against Sav for the grab, but merely wedging his body between him and the 2nd spoiling defender. Brilliant.

Oh and Tippett? The other COLA kid loses his fizz, and becomes the ZERO version.

Dermie's the best CHF who ever played the game, except for Laurie Nash. We were lucky to have him.

Injury-wise and years left, yes.

Dermie was good for us because Sav Rocca, unlike his younger brother, had very little mongrel in him and needed a protector. It is not a coincidence that Sav's greatest sporting moments were as a kicker in a non-contact role in American Football. Dermie protected Sav and allowed him to play his best footy.

The point here is that Brereton was in his final year of football, had achieved premierships and awards at Hawthorn and was prepared to sacrifice glory for the team and support Rocca. None of this is a role that Tippett would be willing or able to play.

And it is not needed. Darcy Moore may not be as rugged as Anthony Rocca but he does seem to be able to look after himself. He just needs a second tall alongside him who is good enough to need opposing so that Darcy is not double teamed as Cloke was after Dawes was traded. Preferably that should not be someone who has spent much of this year in the Twos.

I wouldn't consider Tippett whatsoever.

The biggest disappointment in the league in terms out of input and the amount he's being paid.

Yeah that would be awesome so both brothers can talk to each other in rehab. No thanks he spends more time off the ground than Ben.

it irks me to think that we as supporters try to think we need
brotherly love to improve our onfield success. sam reid would be
another mistake from the recruitment employees, the same ones
who have tipped the ledger to failure rather than
winners as he's a not so tall weak forward who breaks down more
so than he's brother and for longer.
im also hopping ben is used as trade bait for he is also a liability
because of he's injury history. we don't need that. at least he would
give us currency. Tippett pfft.

Yeah, I'm right off this idea. If we go for an experienced FF, it has to be someone with at least 3 seasons in him.

I feel that Tippett would not be able to offer much going into 2018 and aged 30. Lets face it, the Swans would be disappointed with what they've gotten from him since he left Adelaide. Sadly for him, he played in 2 losing Grand Finals, which is some proof that you cant always buy a Premiership.

And again, it's just silly to dump Cloke and get Tippett the following season. Besides, are Sydney going to de-list him?

Free Agency FF: Casboult.

Free Agency tall: Reid.

Trade Target FF: Gunston.

Trade Target tall/ruck depth: Daw.

Thats the options I can see right now.

I said last year that Keeffe was a better player than Tippett - one has retired and the other still has a job, although that could change at the end of 2018.

Thank goodness Collingwood didn't fall for the bait and recruit Tippett last year which would have been disastrous. We learned a lesson with White and another with Mayne and we're not about to keep repeating our mistakes.

...
Because the ankle reconstruction Tippett had in October wasn’t a career-ending injury, Swans football manager Tom Harley has been able to negotiate a reduced figure on his payout.

“We won’t have to carry his salary for the full term of his three years remaining,” Harley told SEN radio.

“He was contracted for three years prior to that so it certainly won’t be that.”

Had it been a career-ending injury, Sydney would have been forced to pay Tippett the full amount of his contract over the next three years.

“Injuries have played a part in his decision,” Harley said.

“He had a full ankle reconstruction last year. There are strict definitions around what constitutes career-ending injuries. It means you aren’t able to play and that isn’t what’s happened to Kurt.”

Harley wouldn’t comment on the settlement figure agreed upon or the time frame for its payment. But given the club is committed to Tippett’s payment this year, it’s believed to be heavily front-ended.

“Any contract negotiations are confidential between the player, his management and the club,” Harley said.
...

While Tippett arrived on a very large contract, he has renegotiated twice, extending his time for less money.
