Wonder if anyone would be interested in trading a pick in the 70's for him?

Yes, he's an upgrade on White. Yes, he can provide depth in the ruck. But no, he isn't the player he was in Adelaide.

I think it'd be rather silly to send Cloke off and then bring in Tippett the following year.

He's 30 and has maybe a season left in him.

If there was no one else we could get. If he cost nothing more than an extremely late pick. If Sydney paid a decent bulk of his contract. Then maybe. But all those things wont happen.

Yeah because we went so well in 1995 when he was with us.

Nope, I don't think Tippett will even get a contract next year, anywhere.

Sav Rocca's career-best year ring a bell?

But on the original subject, no. Tippett is finished.

'did he get started??

That is a fair point.

Two or three good seasons in there, I suppose, but never went on with it...

His problem has always been that he's actually hopeless when the ball hits the ground. There was one game the Swans played against us where he clunked 3 contested marks and kicked the goals in the first quarter. And then White was running around like a gazelle and none of our guy could go with either of them. I thought we were going to lose by 10 goals - but KT didn't take another mark and barely touched it, whilst White just kept charging away, leaving our guys in his wake, making position in places that wouldn't have made sense if he were the boundary umpire. Having one of them on the list is a disaster. Having 2 would by an emetic.

No thanks. Always hated him as a player. Everybody knew that this was an insane deal for Sydney to offer at the time. I bet if they knew they were getting Franklin the following year, Tippet would now be at the Gold Coast.

Hopefully we learn from this mistake and go to the draft and finally develop another key forward like we should have 3 years ago.

I think we've all got a bit caught up in this notion that Darcy Moore needs 'protecting'. I reckon it's a fallacy. He's shown in the last month that he is developing just fine. the short term gorilla idea is nonsense. If we think we are lacking a big key forward we should either go to the draft and get the best kid available or trade for someone who has some serious years left in them. Possibly use a surplus midfielder. By the end of the year we should be saying that Darcy and a new up and comer is the right combo for our forward setup.

Great idea.
We will need someone to play the "Jesse White role" next year so as not to leave a hole in Jared Rivers' plans.

Much prefer Sam Reid, lured as a free agent.

Yes, have to defend Dermie with the Bat; if you watch any of Rocca's marking contests from 1995, chances are you will see Brereton in there, not competing against Sav for the grab, but merely wedging his body between him and the 2nd spoiling defender. Brilliant.

Oh and Tippett? The other COLA kid loses his fizz, and becomes the ZERO version.

Yeah that would be awesome so both brothers can talk to each other in rehab. No thanks he spends more time off the ground than Ben.

Coke Zero is being rebranded as no sugar. Dermie was actually good for us that year and definitely assisted the big saveloy. Sh1ts me in the media now though.
