Hopefully you have a hard head like your dad and put it to good use head butting Vince in the plums. |
Gavin was 184 cm and Callum is 177 cm.
At times Gavin played centre half forward and got his body smashed time after time after time.
Needless to say the first half of his career was brilliant and his second half was ordinary because of his injuries.
So I hope Callum is not as brave or crazy like his old man.
Have a great debut Callum. |

Gavin the Great played wing because he was the best wingman in Australia, centre because he was Collingwood's best footballer, full-forward because he was better than Taylor, full back on Ablett because he was the best one on one player we had. If his son has half Gavin's courage and a quarter of his ability, he should have a fine career - he's just small enough that they won't ask him to do the impossible all over the field, every week. |

Man that is a dilemma. ....keep off the grog but being in a bar is like being with a beautiful woman with no hope of scoring.
Good luck ....may the force be with you! |
There are thousands of bars here. But this one has dim sims and chiko rolls.
Although the fried dimmies were sub par last time.
Shouldn't be eating fat either so may try the steamed. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Congratulations to Callum. Enough with the Gavin comparisons & celebrate the fact he's been good enough in his own right to earn his place.
Well done son. Have a great game & hope you & the team do well.

From "The Age online"
"....His VFL form has been really strong over the last three or four weeks," Buckley said.
"We broke protocol a little bit by letting him know this morning in front of the boys. He didn't know it was happening, so he was pretty shocked. Clearly he was pumped.
"We know that we're not going to lack in endeavour or grunt from him and he's got a fair bit of class to go with that.
"He's busy, he's a ball winner and a ball hunter, he's got great short speed and that lateral agility.
"He's an exciting young prospect with a great attitude, a really professional young man and he's not going to die wondering."....

It's hard for me to believe that the storied players of the 1990 flag have kids old enough to play AFL footy.
Geez. I really am old. |

It must be just me - but would anybody else rather see him debut after playing in the VFL a week prior?
As we went to Freo last week, he missed a VFL match correct?
So now his immediate roster is: week on [VFL] / week off [AFL ext.squad] / week on [QB AFL] / week off [AFL bye]. Or is there a VFL game he can feature in that weekend, or do they get it off as well?
Point being, I don't think he really needs all those "off weeks" in his development at this point. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

We picked up Brayden Shaw in 2003, that's 14 years ago. _________________ Go Pies! |

I have a mate who is very high up in the recruitment department at one of the other AFL clubs, and he said they massively rated Callum - thinks he will be a deadset gun. Also remember Monkey being interviewed once saying it was an honour playing with Gavin Brown. Made you stood taller on the field - which made an impact on me given how hard Monkey was at it. Very excited about Monday - although for me it will get emotional when I get to yell Daiiicccosss at a football match. _________________ Dispatches from a foreign land |
