From wikipedia:
Quote: | Gilbert was drafted by Collingwood but refused to return from retirement. |
It is wikipedia and there's also no reference to this statement.
I've never heard about him being drafted to Collingwood like Healy in 1990 and Watson to WCE in 92.
Is there any truth to this? Or just another classic wikipedia fact? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

His brother played 2 seasons at North then was delisted. Collingwood then drafted him, but from memory he never played a game. He just wanted to go back home to the NT. He was a phenomenal talent, somewhat like Liam Jurrah, but couldn't cope with city life and the demands of being a professional footballer. |

He burst on the scene but never really fired a shot after his first three games with North. As I understand it Wikipedia can be edited by its users so someone should fix it. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Yep not Gilbert but his brother Adrian who played one year with North and kicked 23 goals in his first 3 games - 60+ for the year - Pies drafted Adrian in 96 but he stayed in the NT. _________________ Now, gentlemen, let us do something today which the world may talk of

Adrain was a acceptional talent and I played a couple of seasons of footy in Alice against him straight after he refused to go back to Melbourne. Was a freak of a player but had a temper. This partly due to the average standard of umpiring and team mates abilities that he wasn't use to. Kicked a couple of goals that i saw very close up that you just shake your head and wondered what are you doing back here.
Went on to represent NT in cricket and bowled against a touring side not sure which one. Freak of a sportsman that just liked the life with his family more than sports or playing for the black and white. _________________ Utter B@stards |
