I was told today that Roos has inked a deal this week for the next 2 years on huge money ($2m).
Board will announce need for due process etc, but it is a fait accompli.

Backs up a view I was told about one month ago that Roos was the board's choice. A deal now would be very Eddie-like, backing up from Gubby Allan.

I think that Darcy Moore will be relieved. Roos won't allow him to be the only tall marking forward as well as back up ruckman.

What are people's thoughts?

I think the success of such a move will strongly depend upon whoever he nominates as his lieutenant. i gather that Goodwin did a massive amount of the work at Melbourne when under Roos.

If he is not prepared to be in it for the long haul, then don't want him.

To be honest, doubt that they would have signed him this early. At best, there may be an understanding that subject to certain outcomes.

Don't really see them signing anyone know whilst the season is still alive.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, but I would be disgusted if it turns out to be true. I won't be renewing my 40 yr membership if the club knifes Bucks in the back like that.

Will be awkward when he's not even in Australia in October and November.

He said last week while in commentary that he and his family are taking an extended holiday once the AFL season ends and his commentary commitments are complete.

If you are going to pay a coach a million a year you sort of want him around in the trade and draft period.

So I call bullshit on this 2 year deal rumour.

It is a joke that Moore was our only tall target up forward. Although l quite like the leap he has at the centre bounces.

The biggest problem is when Moore does the lead up role to the wing and our targets are Elliot, Faz and Blair.

Imagine the shit you would cop if you were a coach doing that at the lower grade levels.

If it's true I think it's a big mistake for the following reasons:
1) It undermines Buckley's position of coach till the end of the season, and
2) It undermines due process of selecting Buckley's successor

If it was true the journos would have broken it well ahead of a nicks poster. It doesn't feel or sound right to me either so I'm also calling bullsh*t

Give Tony Shaw another crack at it. I think he has learned the errors of his previous stint and is ready to take the next step. Or perhaps Burnsy or Rocca or Lockyer. How about Fabulous Phil? Or maybe shoehorn Richo out of the Saints. Let's not discount Peter Daicos or Gavin Brown either, and I am sure we could channel Louie through a TV set to get the job done! We'll get one of these magnificent Collingwood favourite sons to coach us to a flag even if it destroys us. Wink
