I had a the great pleasure of watching Leon play and found the mini documentary on the website both interesting and really positive. It's great to see that Leon has found so much happiness in his life outside of football. A wonderful role model for indigenous and non indigenous athletes about giving back to your community when your playing days are done.

Wasn't it great to watch.

^ yep, what a lovely man and an ornament to his people. Credit to Mick
Malthouse, too, for the influence he clearly had.

Great video... & agree, well done Collingwood media. Forgot just how good his skills were, and is sorely missed. Would slot in nicely down back right now. Still gutted he missed out on a flag. His 2011 season was electric, and his goal on the left in Port Adelaide (2002?) to progress in the finals was awesome...

Was also happy to hear him talk about the club fondly, and that he walked rather than us pushing him. Always felt that we mightn't have handled his departure too well.

The Igniter... will be side by side with the little man this weekend.

Mods - this should be a sticky for the next week - perhaps as a broader tribute to our indigenous players. Agree with above comments re the Leon mini-doc.

I was trying to think what his best highlight was and I can't nail one- there are too many. What do others think?

I do recall watching a game a few years ago and thinking how much I loved he and Didak getting the ball - their ball use was a delight.

Other indigenous players that come to mind.

Robbie Ahmat

Brad Dick

Andrew Krakour

Daniel Wells

Travis Varcoe

And hopefully Kayle Kirby

Others?

Neon Leon. What a star and an all round class act. Credit to Malthouse for nurturing him in those early years, when his form was up and down.

Like Roe there's a few others who never played a senior game for us:

Adrian McAdam (1996) - delisted in the preseason
Nathan Lovett-Murray (2001)
Johnny Bennell (2009)

Also the dates are wrong for a couple - it seems a few years were they didn't play senior matches are missed:

Cox (began his CFC career in 2006)
Wellingham (began his CFC career in 2007)
Yagmoor (ended his CFC career in 2014)

Made me smile to watch this however there was a tinge of sadness as well.
I remember when the Pies won the flag and he was on the ground after the game walking around in his suit congratulating the boys. He looked lost to me. It made me really feel for him. When he left the Pies after that amazing year, it was such a shock and disappointment.
These highlights will forever remind us of the great talent he was.

It thrilled me to see him introduced to the crowd before the Carlton game and to have accepted the invitation said plenty.
Congratulations Leon Neon and ...Thank you.

Thanks for the corrections.

I knew I'd probably miss one or two players in the list.
