that thread simply pointed out that our trading hasn't been as bad as people here were complaining about 10 weeks ago.
each of those recruited have already shown that they were much needed pieces (except Mayne who hasn't yet shown he is an upgrade on the Blair role).
Schade and Dunn are both upgrades on Frost.
WHE and Wells are terrific upgrades. WHE fills a role we didnt really have and Wells is elite at what he does. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

I don't see a problem with this spine for certain matchups. It's important to remember that it's by choice.

I agree with that 100% and have been one of the lone voices for 3 years now about the futility of playing Cox just because he is taller than everyone else. By the way, i think faz is an excellent lead up CHF in the modern game. he takes a strong mark on the lead and his kicking is elite (something he doesn't get enough credit for because he rarely gets many touches that aren't shots on goal).
you cant tell me though that a spine of Rance, Reid, Franklin and Walker wouldn't make you feel a whole lot better? _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Fair call. This looks a real horses for courses selection to me. Other than Martin ( resting forward ) the Lions virtually have no physical presence or size down their spine either. If ever you should be able to get away with an undersized spine, it should be this week against the Lions. |

and no surprise that teams without a legit spine are dwelling in the lower reaches of the ladder. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Someone needs to find out if Wayne Carey had any kids. Surely there's a few out there that no one knows about? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

You don't play the season to beat sides like Brisbane. You play the season to make finals and go on to win a premiership. We're not going to do it this way. We have half a spine to work with. Dunn is a good FB. Moore is a good FF getting better with each game. We need to find structure down the spine and hope that players don't get injured so that the side stays intact. I would prefer we play Cox at FF and persist with him there. Reid is running again. In another 3 weeks he'll be ready to return to the side. A spine of Dunn, Reid, Adams, Moore and Cox gives us some hope against the better sides going forward. |

If the list doesn't have enough adequate KPPs, then it isn't a good list then. Is it?
We have to question with our current poor position, if we would have been better off drafting a swag of kids and bottoming out rather than recycling from other clubs which make up a significant a part of our list. Recycling can have a limited ceiling for those players. See Richmond last few years.
While Trealor is a jet, what would have the two low first round draft picks given us?. Pick 25 for greenwood. 2 second rounders for Ash. Etc. Etc.
There are no garentees. But building you own list via the draft tends to prepare a more solid list base for a premiership. And more likely to not leave as many positional holes with a good strategy. |
