Sorry CC; just lamenting that trading that 1998 first round pick for spud Oleranshaw, when we could have selected any one of those players listed from pick #8 onwards, which may have improved our list going into those grand final years of 2002-2003 - as Oleranshit certainly didn't. |
Fevalenko at 38. What a steal.
Btw Dyso. Got the cats at $3.75 last night 1-23 points. Buttered up again on the Seans tonight. $13 at 100+. It's a long shot but all the other odds were crap. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Williams would have been a very handy player for us in 2002 and 2003 when we were contenders along with Sav. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

We traded for Olarenshaw by giving up pick 12 to Essendon, who later recruited Adam Ramanauskas in the 1998 Draft.
We also received pick 41 in the trade with Essendon. We subsequently used pick 41 to recruit Craig Jacotine.
The irony of the trade is that Olarenshaw never had any real desire to play with us to begin with. He wanted to play with North, but a trade didn't come about for whatever reason (maybe due to North and Essendon's rivalry at the time).
Olarenshaw did receive his wish eventually as we traded him and pick 39 at the end of 2000 to North Melbourne for pick 37 which we used to recruit Guy Richards in the National Draft. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 |

Seems you might be right....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Olarenshaw
Olarenshaw was traded to Collingwood (instead of his preferred club, the Kangaroos) at the end of 1998 after agreeing to leave Essendon. Olarenshaw was disillusioned by the new surroundings at Collingwood and suffered injuries that restricted him to just five games with the club.
Ricky O and Craig Jacotine for pick 12, Ramanauskas, who we gave up a pick for to draft in years later. What an effing joke _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"
