At 3/4 time of home games, our sponsor United Petroleum have a competition where a Collingwood supporter has a chance to win some cash if they catch a handball, mark a short kick and mark a long kick. The person handballing and kicking is an ex player. Willo was the ex player on Saturday night. Daics was the ex player at the Carlton home game.

If they want to make this more challenging for the contestant you can get Adams to jog out of the huddle and kick the ball.

Very good humour, although Tay's disposal has improved out of sight compared to his first season with us.

Some of the contestants need all the help they can get, so inflicting Adams on them would be harsh. However, saying that, the young woman on Saturday night had very good co-ordination, so she would have coped well with Tay. But, the older lady at the Carlton game, would have been in strife, as she was unable to catch any of Daics, the great man's, handballs or kicks, so I don't think she would have appreciated Adams being the handballer and kicker.

The scuttlebutt regarding Paul Williams and Buckley allegedly involved a woman. Allegedly Buckley advise the club to make a choice and said it's either me or him.

I thought that was Leigh Matthews and Michael Christian????? Or was it Wayne Carey and Murphy..... Wink Wink Wink

Paul was a sensational player for us, and a genuine star. He was a mix of speed, skill and toughness. I can't remember the circumstances of how we lost him to Sydney, but seems crazy looking back that we let him go. Nice to see him back at Pie-land, even if it was for a visit.

i thought he and Nathan Buckley didnt get along and he refused to play in the same team as Nathan (see, everything literally is Nathan's fault - even the decision to persist with Maynard when everyone else thought he was a dud!).

Seriously, we used him (and Mal Michael) as part of the bait to land Clement, Holland, Molloy, Steinfort, and pick 37 (Guy Richards). Here is the details of the multi party trade:

Paul Williams was traded to Sydney for pick No. 8 and No. 39. Pick No. 8 was then on traded to Fremantle for Brodie Holland, James Clement and pick No. 22. Mal Michael and pick No. 22 was traded to Brisbane for Jarrod Molloy and pick 44. Pick 44 was then on traded to Geelong for Carl Steinfort. Ricky Olarenshaw and pick No. 39 was traded to North Melbourne for pick No. 37.

Wow, never realised Ricky made it to another club.

Can't say I was ever much of a fan of the old Ricky O, always thought he was quite overrated after being a baby Bomber in '93

As I understand it, Williams left us for another club for money, and then he went on to have an equal of greater career with that other club. I therefore find it hard to equate him with other Collingwood greats. Who's next - Nick Davis ?

I think we should do more to distinguish between those who were real Collingwood men and those who used our club as a vehicle. If you spent your career at Collingwood, and/or did not choose to leave it through the main part of your career, perhaps you should be known as a Collingwood hero, or some other signifier.

My #1 favourite player for a long time, and I even still loved watching those very, very special Paul Williams blasting-down-the-wing-for-a-long-goal moments even after he went to Sydney. As I recall, he was happy to be traded because he didn't get on with a notable senior player. (Was it Bucks? Can't remember.)

We all have a special list of players we particularly like to watch, and not always just the champions. Among mine have been Len Thomson, Gavin Croscisca, Wakes, Jimmy Clement, Leon, Brownie and Daics of course, Billy Picken, and Big Ant. And, of course, Paul Williams. Good to see him back around the place. Any chance he could come in next week for the injured Aish? He'd still be quicker than half the Brisbane side, even at his age.

Yeah, Williams was a gun, you love to watch players like that, and for mine his sublime skills were slightly wasted in the dour Swans set-up.

I also recall rumours of him not getting along with a certain senior player, hence being happy to be traded

Sorry CC; just lamenting that trading that 1998 first round pick for spud Oleranshaw, when we could have selected any one of those players listed from pick #8 onwards, which may have improved our list going into those grand final years of 2002-2003 - as Oleranshit certainly didn't.
