Win this week has huge benefits, belief will be rising within the squad and taking out a big match can cement that.
Plus the bye then giving a couple of auto 22 a chance to return can launch us into the finals race.
This game is virtually an 8 or even 10 premiership points game.

I think we will win on Monday, but I disagree that this is a "must win" game. Considering our injuries - missing Varcoe, Reid, Elliott, Goldsack and Wells - if we lose we will need to win 7 of the remaining 10 games. That is doable. Win on monday and we only need 6 out of 10. Obviously our chances are enhanced if we win, but let's not consider that our finals chances are cactus if we lose this one. Either way, I reckon we are set for a very good second half of the season.

Hope you're right RB.

It's a big test for us we just have to start winning these games. Draw is pretty favourable after the bye and we could build on this momentum after the break as well as starting to get some players back.

Well the fixture would want to be pretty favourable after the bye, as the fixture prior to about what round 8, sucked a major bag of arsehole?

depends if you think Port are good or beatable.

We play Adelaide once, Port twice, WCE once and Melbourne again. The rest are winnable if we are good enough.

I believe that Collingwood and Port will detemrine each others fate this season and those two games are the key to both our chance at playing finals and their top 4 aspirations.

And and the percentage gunna be a big asset as 7 and 8 have less percent with one more win
Beat Melbourne by any ammount that either has %
status quo or increase and we go a game in front
of Dee's but level on games with 7 & 8

I say this is a big important step for wins percentage
but more important

Belief😎😎😎😎

Baz, you and everyone else on this site knows that percentage doesn't matter!! I promise you it wont matter this year, just like it has never mattered ever since they created this finals format.

Woe! Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it.

Of course it matters. When we win on Monday, we will be 6th, by percentage. There will be 6 teams on 6 wins.
Port will be 5th with 24 points and a % of 133
Fremantle will be 10th with 24 points and a % of 78

If it was round 22 and the 6 sides had an 11/11 record. Port would be hosting a final next week and Fremantle would be in turmoil.

I'd say % is very important.

11 wins with a good percentage could be enough for the 8 this year. It's that even a season.

forget percentage.

Win the next 4 to go 9-7 and then set up for a tough run home!

Port (MCG), Haw, Ess and Suns. All winnable.

Crocker, Smith, Brown to make way for Reid, Goldsack and Elliot. Not sure who makes way for Wells and Varcoe, but both of them are certain ins when healthy.

Out of those four games, Port Adelaide and Essendon will be the toughest ones for us.

I don't feel like we're out of finals contention despite the loss yesterday.

Could lose all 4, Hawks wont let us get them so easily again, Essendon have clearly gone past us, Port had their wakeup call this week and even Gold Coast managed a win!

Essendon have some fantastic young players in Merrett, Daniher and Fantasia. But replacing Watson, Goddard and Hooker will be tough. I think they'll come back down again once they lose these guys.... (again).

This obviously wont affect the upcoming match at all, just saying that I think we'll pass them again soon.

Even right now, I think its possible to beat them. They are not the 2000 Bombers.

I'm confident that we'll get through that run of games sitting somewhere between 9-7 and 5-11.
