Agree 100%. Quality posters and assets to this board.
Re playing for the future, yes, absolutely pick 'em to win games right now. Put our best possible 22 on the park every week unless it is mathematically impossible to reach the finals.
BUT when it's line ball, pick the kid. If, for example, you reckon there isn't a lot between Broomhead and Blair, pick the kid every time. Only pick the old player (who, frankly, is never going to improve) if none of the kids is close to his standard. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I agree, if it is a 50/50 call between the older player and the younger player, pick the younger player. Given where we at, I would extend that to a 60/40 call in favour of the older player, still pick the younger player. At a 70/30 call and beyond, go with the older player. |

a well earned reward. I really hope this is his time to shine. I've been really happy for Menzel and he plays for my least favorite team. No player deserves this kind of extended bad luck and i give a lot of credit to the mental toughness of this kid to make the comeback.
I hope the fans in attendance really get behind him and show him a lot of love!! He has earned it. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

I enjoy reading MT's posts and many others. Don't always agree but find them well balanced and quite insightful.
As for the team
The berg has been kicking the door down for a couple weeks. I get why they have held him back until they feel he is absolutely cherry ripe.
He's had 2 knees in 2yrs no one knows the conversations behind closed doors in regards to the players mental space in overcoming this.
He's been getting leather poisoning and from reports has been in the best 5 most weeks.
He adds another dimension to our backline. He is a better than average kick and plays taller than his height and a good intercept mark as well.
I would actually play Cox this week. He will really stretch there young defence and Moore can run wild under these conditions with Elliott Faz JDG Sidey all reaping the rewards.
If we play like we did in terms 3&4 last week e will account for them easily. They have been competitive for half a game each week but fall away badly.
We can't take them lightly though they are capable of springing surprises.
We need this one and for it to be w convincing win building some confidence and helping the %
I'm tipping the pies and by 10 goals |

Really?
You two should get a room.
Mooretreloar just makes up some meaningless numbers and you agree with those precise numbers? Sandman's posts make more sense than that.
A day younger, a week younger, a month younger? How does that make a difference?
What are the injury backgrounds of the players like? How are their bodies holding up?
I understand the concept of a 50/50 call.
What is a 60/40 call or a 70/30 call? Say it's a 69/31 call and you would select the younger player on those numbers. Does that mean that the older player is twice as good as the younger player, but you would still pick the younger player? Just as well for us that neither of you are on our selection committee. |
