My Hawks Sudanese neighbor has just chucked a wobbly! Drunk in his front yard singing weird songs wearing a dressing gown and hawks beannie . Time to do some provoking magpie gestures. Bertha has just turned the theme song on full loud while yelling at him through the bathroom window. Alas we won tonight and deserved to! Hawthorn are a disgrace to the competition. Who was the fool on here suggesting we sack Bucks and get their coach?

Don't know why people are so surprised by the style of play in the first quarter. Pies were playing to the same plan as in the first quarter of Rnd 3 against the Swans. Pies were applauded then - highest possession/disposal quarter in club history if I recall. Just this time it didn't work, at all. But it was a trialed and proven plan.

Fantastic second half.
Shizenhousen first half.

Our players are run and carry, take the game on types.
Either continue that style or bucks is gone.

We need to arrest the insipid performances like the first half that we have been doing more often than not.

While Adams really lifted in the 3rd, I thought the real spark was the contest Aish provided putting himself on the line - I wonder if some posters here still view him soft...

Great get out of jail performance.

First quarter was a train wreck, second was ok and then the second half was excillerating. We needed a win to take the pressure off and get some value for work rate. Brisbane next week to hopefully allow us to build some momentum approaching the bye.

Well done Pies, made my weekend 🙂

I think tonight proves that perhaps the issue is not the coach. Great comeback but I don't want to let them off that easily. I've noticed a pattern this year, every time we have an average first quarter, we tend to never get back in games. I was certain that we would peg it back a little each quarter and lose by 20-30 points. Finally we bucked this trend. We have a lot of work to do but tonight the tide may have turned.

Couldn't agree more strongly Swansway. The issue is not the coach!!! It's the minds of some of these players. It was the same team in the first quarter as the third and fourth. It's the attitude of the players!!!! They want to play safe and careful, until they realize they have to really go for it. This is what they do with the top teams - they apply themselves from the start and so play relatively well. Give them a game where they think they are the favourites and they don't get off their bums until they have no option. Sidey and Treloar immediately come to mind in this regard, but I am sure there are others.

Isn't footy a funny thing
So many negatives from the first 35 minutes then so many positives from then on
Yet again the players haven't got there mind in the game from the first bounce.
Time and again we are chasing tail and playing catch up
First term was exactly this
Get the ball side ways backwards side ways backwards turnover goal against repeat
Second half take the game on move the ball quickly look dangerous

A few things that stood out to me tonight
Our skipper is a all time great in any era
Adams for his poor disposal at times makes up for it with his effort and heart
Moore is showing the signs of becoming a good player then who knows how good he can get
Phillips and Blair aren't afl standard players
Treloar when his going is great needs to be more consistent in his overall game
Goldie's effort can never be questioned 150 games and gives everything he has in every one of them a player whose heart is bigger than his reputation
When hodge wanted to throw his weight around Pendles Wells gurney first there to support the skipper well done lads
Glad we won but the questions won't stop until we show that effort from the second half every quarter every week
Win next week and we will be a game out of the 8 and with teams dropping games there expected to win every week who knows finals could still be a possibility but the balls in our court

Its amazing how much better the win is when I was fuming at how shit we were at the start.

A nice steady 5 goal win would be nice for a change instead of these emotional rollercoasters, I can feel a heart attack comin on

What I loved most was towards the end when we were in front but not safe he went over and got into Hodge and he absolutely lost it & his focus was on the Brawl and we manufactured the goal that killed them off.

I let all the Hawks fans in the Olympic stand know all about it.

On a side note can anyone answer why our players weren't wearing black arm bands for Lou today ?
Not knocking it just wondering why
