A few months ago I did a DNA test with Ancestry.com. Got the results the other day.
39% Irish
38% Great Britain
17% Scandinavian.
The other 6% is a mix of Iberian peninsula, western Europe, Italy/Greece and European Jewish.
Interesting mix.
I guess the Scandinavian helps account for the blonde hair and good looks. 
Anyone else done one of these?
I signed up, got sent a test tube to fill with saliva, add some stuff to stabilise it and post it back to them. They sent me a link via email to the results. Interesting reading about how the Vikings and Goths came into Europe from Scandinavia

My aunt-in-law continued working on the family tree for mum's paternal side of the family (the maternal McCormack side is well complete and mum's result for that a few years ago now was 98% Irish) after her hubby mum's brother died recently.
She sent mum a kit - and somehow I had to do it for her and send it off! 
My old man was a gitty pom - so if it comes back with some strange results the old girl may have some questions to answer!

A friend of mine did this test too and got some really interesting results. I think those figures need a bit of an asterisk I remain a little sceptical as to how accurate they are but it's certainly a fascinating exercise.

Can't recall if it helped uncover a hidden past in the family or merely confirmed it but my auntie did one of these DNA tests and discovered a small percentage of Asian heritage (10% if memory serves) so I guess that would mean I'm at 5%?
Typically with my bad luck this 5% had to present itself in the form of a penis.
