Form ladder (midway through round 5):

1. Adelaide
2. GWS
3. Geelong
4. Port Adelaide
5. Richmond
6. Western Bulldogs
7. West Coast
8. Melbourne

9. Essendon
10. St Kilda
11. Fremantle
12. North Melbourne
13. Gold Coast
14. Collingwood
15. Sydney
16. Hawthorn
17. Carlton
18. Brisbane

Wondering if I've put Essendon too high and Gold Coast too low – otherwise, this looks about right.

I reckon the top 6 are finals bound, with West Coast, Melbourne, Essendon and St Kilda the main contenders for the last three spots.

Essendon have played Hawthorn, Brisbane, Carlton and Adelaide. Way too high. Three of the bottom 4, so their form isn't great.

Agree with MT that Essendon are too high.

I think it's difficult to distinguish the bottom 10 so far, as opposed to the top 8. There's no side that's clearly worse than everyone else at the moment.

Essendon are always too high on any ladder, unless they're below Carlton.

I think Brisbane and Carlton are clearly the worst two, with Hawthorn in that group too up until yesterday.

At least Melbourne seem to be justifying their place in my top 8 tonight. I had a feeling Richmond might drop this one.

And that sentence makes a mockery of your 'form' ladder son Wink

Not at all – it's a dynamic process that necessarily adjusts as new results occur. Before the weekend, they'd had four average to abysmal performances; now they've had a very good one, so their ranking needs to be adjusted.

Laughing Laughing

I think you're slightly over rating your analytic capabilities.
