Cyber-bullying or stalking occurs when someone engages in offensive, menacing or harassing behaviour through the use of technology. It can happen to people at any age, anytime, and often anonymously.
Examples of cyber-bullying include:
•posting hurtful messages, images or videos online
•repeatedly sending unwanted messages online
•sending abusive texts and emails
•excluding or intimidating others online
•creating fake social networking profiles or websites that are hurtful
•nasty online gossip and chat, and
•any other form of digital communication which is discriminatory, intimidating, intended to cause hurt or make someone fear for their safety.
Just like bullying in the offline world, not all online bullying is criminal. There are Australian laws which apply to serious online harassment and online bullying behaviour. Under the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) it is an offence to use the internet, social media or a telephone to menace, harass or cause offence. The maximum penalty for this offence is three years imprisonment or a fine of more than $30,000.
It appears that 1 particular poster and a few brainless cronies are either completely stupid or just plain ignorant that their behaviour is exactly the type of sustained attack on an individual that could potentially cause a vulnerable person to self harm and that it contravenes Australian law.
Mods on this site have watched on in mute silence and allowed this behaviour to occur for in excess of 12 months thereby providing tacit approval of the behaviour.
I am disgusted that fellow humans let alone fellow Collingwood supporters would in any way condone this type of behaviour.
I would like to thank those individuals who have supported me through this either in threads or via PMs. Your support is much appreciated.
<Mod edit: With regards to the issue of moderation, it is simply incorrect to say that the moderating team has given tacit approval to this behaviour. We will be in touch with you about this matter soon - the mods> |

Yep, you don't have to agree with alternative opinions but at least respect them. |

One should also note that, it's the way the person on the end of bullying perceives it NOT the person dishing it out.
Bullying and harassment means any unwanted behaviour that makes someone feel intimidated, degraded, humiliated or offended. It is not necessarily always obvious or apparent to others.
