yep.
Bolton has not had 5 and a half years with a great list to begin with.
We have won 3 matches in a row against ordinary sides and the roosters are out there crowing loudly.
Our list is reasonable so we should be aiming for finals.
But the coach won't get us any further or higher.

Bolton may well be a good coach. He inherited a rabble of a team, but one filled with numerous top 5 draft picks, suggesting there was a lot of unfulfilled talent.

But where exactly do the Blues sit on the ladder?

And do you not think that we aiming for finals? Rolling Eyes

I did not express myself that well.
I said we should be finals material given our list.
But I don't think Bux will over achieve with our list.
Like what MM did.

He wont be going anywhere, and given the rapport he seems to have with the players and the evident improvement, it'd be a risk to let him go.

I thought he coached poorly today in that third quarter, however as Melbourne repeatedly had numbers behind the square at stoppages and they monstered the clearances as a result. The coaches seemed clueless to stop it.

These are the games that count and he doesn't have a decent record. Melbourne are not better than us. Things were awesome in the 2nd when we were allowed the space to play our transition footy. The thing for me is the Bucks ability to stop momentum when it's against us and our players ability to execute the plan under pressure which seems to fail time and time again.

I don't believe Bucks football plan or style will hold up against the best in September. We might never get a chance to find out.

I think just failing to seal the deal in close games is all about experience. We still go missing fo9r periods in games (usually 3rd Qtr) and I assume it is a mental thing. we had a lot of relatively young players out there today - Broomhead, Aish, Scharenberg, Maynard, Brown, Phillips and even DeGoey are all relatively young in terms of AFL games and years. Teams with a lot of veterans know what it takes.

Obviously our forward structure doesn't allow us to bomb long or allow the long outlet kick when our players are under extreme pressure. However that is the bed we have made up and now we have to sleep in it until we develop another key forward and get 100 games into him.

The breakout will be when we start beating teams around us well and start pushing into the top bracket. Today at half time we looked the goods but that dreaded consistency killed us again.

Still would like a coach to have a Plan B when Plan A is not working or the opposition gain momentum.

We kick another goal today and we are sitting 6th. This thread gets no air. All of a sudden, we lose, the people who claim they support us, take glee in our loss, and unlike the last 3 weeks - they get the opportunity for cheap shots at the coach.
We didn't get smashed - it could have gone either way. Neither the Melbourne nor Collingwood coach could have affected the result by that slim margin.

The players are improving at an acceptable rate, they are playing for the coach and his staff - no doubt about it.

Coached well today. Melbourne got a run on in the third quarter which quelled our run. Then we got it back in the last quarter but at the end of the day we couldn't bridge the gap. That's the players folks. It's not the coach and it's not the umpires. But if we could improve our forward structures and forget the part time experiments of Greenwood and Crocker at FF, and Langdon at CHB, that would go a long way towards improving our chances of winning each week.
