Well batted Aaron Finch - 38 & 83. He occupied the crease for 201 balls. I've already praised Gotch & Patto for their marathon efforts with the bat.

Now Gotch & Christian - 31 runs from 170 balls.

Christian alone: 21 from 112.

Vics are 6/224 (from 92 overs) at drinks, with a minimum of 12 overs to go on the 4th day. The partnership between Gotch and Christian is now 41 from 27 overs.

I suppose technically the Vics could lose the last 4 wickets cheaply but I wouldn't fancy SA getting 500 in a day.

If they can bowl the Vics out and then knock off the 500 or so required after managing 287 in the first innings, they will deserve the Shield.
