Actually if correct we are better place than 2016 pre round 1

For comparative purposes, this was our injury list heading into round 1 last year.

Tim Broomhead - Shoulder
Jamie Elliott - Back
Tyson Goldsack - Knee Tendinitis
Jeremy Howe - Finger and Foot
Ben Reid - Calf
Matthew Scharenberg - Knee
Josh Smith - Ankle
Travis Varcoe - Hamstring

Fast forward 5 mins and you can add

Pendlebury broken ribs.
Dane Swan broken foot.

And for good measure.

Steele Sidebottom Suspension 3 weeks.

It was a lonely sad Night for me 51 weeks back

Aaaand there went our season right there.

Impossible to underestimate the loss this has been right there.

Sure one player isn't the be all and end all but . . .

You simply can't cover an elite mid's loss right at the doorstep of the season.

Such a pity that Swan went down. Could have been very useful as a forward in the latter stages of his career.

The Sydney match last year was very demoralising to the extent that I felt the season was over then and there, and it was a matter of regaining respectability for the rest of the year.

We need to start the season strongly, or at the very least maintain our competitive nature that became increasingly prevalent in the latter half of last season.

Collingwood has ruled Jordan De Goey, Jamie Elliott and Levi Greenwood out of its round one clash against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG this Friday night.

De Goey will undergo surgery on a broken hand after sustaining the injury in an accident at home across the weekend.

The young midfielder is likely to be unavailable for selection for two to three weeks.

Elliott’s attempt to overcome an ankle injury in time for the season opener has narrowly failed, with the small forward expected to train this week and push for selection in the coming weeks.

Greenwood’s time on the sideline will be an extended one, with the midfielder to undergo hip surgery that will see him out of action for four to five weeks.

The club also ruled out Daniel Wells last week.

Well, the Greenwood acquisition has been a failure based simply on games played. Hip surgery? One week out from the season? WTF?!?!

DeGoey looks like another injury prone pick. A broken hand at home? Lord almighty!

Elliott 'narrowly' missed round 1...but...he's only pushing for selection in COMING WEEKS? He's been out longer than if he had broken his f**king ankle!

And Wells. Well, we already knew about that one.

In the first practice game DeGoey looked very good. Obviously too good to be true.

I suspect that it will be at least 6-8 weeks to see him back.

No DeGoey, No Elliot, No Wells & No Greenwood. A great start to the year as per normal.
