I was at training last Thursday. All he (Wills) did was run laps, and lots of them.

After returning from a back injury, an injured ankle at training keeps him out for a month+ including round 1 bs the reigning premiers. Unbelievable. He's already lost a month's block of preseason fitness now. Bloody hell.

Maybe a bit over the top.
I'm sure he'd be swimming and doing other things to maintain his fitness, it's not like he's lost a leg!

OP UPDATED:

Quote:
Jordan De Goey (foot, test).

Jamie Elliott (ankle, TBC).
(Will miss round 1. But considered a low concern injury).

Levi Greenwood (hamstring, TBC).
(Will probably miss round one, but could appear in upcoming VFL practice matches).

Ben Crocker (hip, TBC).
(Returned to light training. Has not competed in any practice matches).

Daniel Wells (calf, 2-4 weeks).

Ben Sinclair (hamstring, 8-12 weeks).

Scott Pendlebury not listed. I'd assume that he is considered a test at worst. Should be right for round 1.

By and large we are in pretty good shape actually. Especially we you look at the longer term stuff hitting some other clubs. Perhaps it's our turn for a relatively injury free year which should enable us to keep a quality core of players on the field each week.

so in one week Wells injury has progressed from 1 week to 2-4 weeks. Me smells a concern here. this is how Nick Maxwell's career ended.

Not a problem. Some time back I posted a similar comment and have had the fingers and toes crossed ever since, all the Buddhas worn and prayed to, and most importantly, I've been to the shoe slappers in Causeway Bar and paid for 18 curses to be placed on opposition teams (2 for the scum). The shoe slappers are ancient Chinese ladies who burn incense and scream insults and curses while slapping a shoe on a picture of the recipient. Works for me here in Hong Kong. Patience my nervous friend we will be fine.

Scott Pendlebury says Collingwood in better shape to push for finals than last year

March 16, 20176:48pm
Glenn McFarlane, Herald Sun

COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Pendlebury is buoyant the club can break a frustrating three-year finals drought given the health of the playing list and a renewed confidence in the club’s defensive set-ups.

A week out from the Magpies’ opening game against the reigning premiers, the Western Bulldogs, Pendlebury said he was far more content with where the team sits now than he was at the same stage of 2016.

“I am a lot happier ... I think we are in a much better place,” Pendlebury said.

Part of that comes from his belief the club’s wretched run of injuries, which have hurt throughout much of Nathan Buckley’s tenure as coach, might finally be coming to an end.

“Health-wise, we are pretty good at the moment,” Pendlebury said, with high-profile recruit Daniel Wells (calf) one of the few players already ruled out for Round 1, with Jamie Elliott (ankle) still trying to prove his fitness.

“It (the injury tide) is turning. I really do believe this is the year that we will turn it around and get a clean run.

“Every year it has happened and it does put a lot of pressure onto guys who are not quite ready for it. All of a sudden you are expecting a second-year player to play like a fifth-year player, and it makes it difficult.”

Do we assume then that Wills is back in full training?

Wells was always a massive injury risk in my mind and so far it isn't looking great.

I cant find anything on Wills. We'll keep an eye out to see if he gets a run in the VFL hitout.

He's back at full training and played in the first half of the VFL last week. Shall start to play full game time in the VFL soon. But he's over the illness and will be working to catch up on his match fitness.

I don't think it's as bad as it seems. Supporters will be anxious to see him play. I'm hoping to see him by Anzac Day.

OP Updated.

Quote:
Jordan De Goey Thigh Test

Tipped to miss round one, but should return to full training to make his case for round 2.

Jamie Elliott Ankle Test

Another expected to miss round one. However, will be returning to full training with the hope to push for selection in round 2 or 3.

Levi Greenwood Hamstring Test

Another test. Doubtful for round one, but might make a cameo in the VFL hitout.

Daniel Wells Calf 2-4 weeks

Hopefully can get back to full training and make a case for Anzac Day.

Ben Sinclair * Hamstring 8-12 weeks

Placed on the LTI list. Wont be seen on the track for some time.

3 players listed as a test with Wells a few weeks off and Sinclair an LTI. Pendlebury expected to play Round 1. No info on Wills.

Where does this information come from? The latest 'injury report' on the CFC website is dated 7 March, which is pretty poor form.
