Post subject: Queens birthday matchReply with quote

I'm coming down for the queens birthday weekend for my 50th ( a weekend of culture and behaviour) and want to attend the game obviously but it isn't our home game. What's the best way to get tickets and be close to pies supporters ?
Any advice would be good
Mucho appreciated fellow pies

walk up to the gate and buy a ticket.
No H/A games are ever sold out at the MCG anymore.

Even with us undefeated at that stage with a average winning margin of 10 goals ???

It would help knowing if you're a Collingwood interstate member. Otherwise you may have to take pot luck as Thompsoc says and either line up early at the gate, or prebook seats through Ticketmaster.

Pre buy a ticket on Ticketmaster if you want to sit in a specific spot, not sure on the allocations for queens birthday. Otherwise if you get general admission ticket allocation is usually on the 4th tier at the ponsford end. You'll want to get in early because there are usually a fair few things on before the game on queens birthday for the big freeze.

Yep.

If you aren't an interstate member, buy a ticket online, get a reserved seat where you want it.

Stay away from the Northern Stand side of the ground, that'll be full of "Go Dees" supporters if they are having a half decent season and haven't escaped to the snow. Get in the Ponsford or Southern stands to be with Pies supporters.

Cheers folks tickets aren't on sale yet but I've registered for them.
Having the mother of all man weekends
Starts in Brisbane for Broncos home game Friday night fly to Sydney Saturday early for a day at the races then attend parramatta v Cowboys that night. Sunday is a afternoon game followed by dinner with some cousins then a Monday morning flight to Melbourne for the pies game followed by about 12,452 beers somewhere
Tuesday will be a relaxing day in a bar somewhere hopefully ending early evening so I can make my flight home Wednesday morning
The war office made a comment "do you really want to celebrate your 50th having a drunken 3 state football trip" ?
Of all the silly questions she's asked after 27yrs this could be the silliest

last 3 years we had crowds of 60000, 40000 and 70000 for these matches.
As it is a free home game every queens birthday to Melbourne ( thanx Ed )the members area should be more frequented than usual. So going as a pleb thru the gate should be easy.
If still worried about getting in.... then get there early and watch the annual Melbourne old hacks march around the ground, after all, it is their finals footy game.
