It's certainly a difficult season to predict.
I always feel we are a chance of finals footy but the past few years injuries have put paid to any realistic chances. If we can stay relatively clear of injuries I think we will be back in the finals. Somewhere between 5th-8th on the ladder.
My early predictions for the top 8 (in alphabetical order) which I will no doubt look back on with embarrassment when the dust has settled on the 2017 season are as follows:
Adelaide
Collingwood
Fremantle
Geelong
GWS
Hawthorn
Sydney Swans
West Coast
I realise people will think I'm crazy for having the Premiers for last year not even making the finals!
Admittedly, I've made those predictions without looking at each teams fixtures for the year |

Hard to predict because we have a tough start. We could well be 3-7 by round 10 and if so it's season over.
Need to win 2 of our first 3 meaning we have to knock over the Doggies or Swans. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

While it'll take a lot going right for us to win the flag I generally don't see much difference in the quality of our list to the Western Bulldogs and the H&A results from last season against them add weight to that.
Of course supporters of 6 to 8 other teams would feel similar heading into the season but I don't give a fat rats clacker about them. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Unfortunately, I am very pessimistic. Do not see how Darcy Moore will get enough support in our forward line. Keeffe is a totally unknown quantity. While Elliott is a gem if he remains fit. we need another key tall and mobile forward, which Cox is not, and White is not consistently up to the required standard.
Do not have enough faith that we have devised over the preseason a systemic and effective team defence, given the failures in previous preseasons.
Think we will be similar to last year, probably 9th to 11th.
Hope I am wrong. |

I think we're somewhere between 7 and 10. Midfield looks very good but I'm concerned about our big defenders and contested marking options up forward. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

I think that's a realistic summation of our prospects heading into the season.
I have us anywhere between 7 to 13. The competition is very even so I think plenty of upsets will arise along the way. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
