Just out of curiosity if anyone knows, but why was Jaxson de-listed at the end of 2010? I remember him bursting on to the scene, winning a Rising Star nomination and looking like a real player. He had speed and knew how to find the footy. Then all of a sudden he was gone. Seemed like a wasted talent. Did we de-list him for discipline issues or what was it?

I think his disposal was an issue, as also - possibly - was his interest in other sporting pastimes. I was very said to see him de-listed - his father was one of my all-time favourites and I so much wanted him to succeed.

My old man was a butcher.
J Barham was the greatest butcher of the ball ever.
He put my old man to shame.
His efforts, desire and commitment was first rate.
But his skill level was extremely poor.

I thought it was because he couldn't kick.

he allegedly wasn't all that committed and had a fondness for surfing and herbs, but that's only hearsay.

The other question would be, if he was any good, why did no one else pick him up?

Malthouse never seemed a fan of the kid and he struggled for opportunity.

Was impressive on debut but weight of possession in that game probably hide his biggest weakness of disposal efficiency which ultimately cost him.

Under a different coach or in a different era who knows he may have been able to string 50+ senior games together.

Thinking more about it his kicking was pretty ordinary, but, plenty of ordinary kicks stick on lists for much longer. I think the extra curricular activities and maybe lack of commitment is probably most likely. He was in and out so quick, and winning a Rising Star nomination as well makes me think he should have been given more of a go. I mean, Swanny got given a long time to pull his act together and his kicking was ordinary early (some would say it stayed that way!!). It's strange how some players get more time than others. Thanks guys for the responses!

He wasn't that bad in 2009, but his disposal efficiency was awful. Could accumulate a lot of the ball though.

From memory, didn't him and Beams despise each other?

Always wondered what would have happened if McGough had played the 2002 GF. Like Jaxson, McGough couldn't kick. Unlike Jaxson McGough had no pace. But McGough was an incredible ball magnet. Would have been an ideal opponent for Voss or Black that day with the wet conditions suiting him perfectly.
