I prefer to wait awhile and then buy a movie, but I do download it first, as mentioned in a previous post. I am not against paying, just want a reasonable price. I would love to go to the cinema as well, but the price at the moment is way out of the price range of me and all.
I think once we fix the issues of distributing movies it might help a lot I do believe there are some that would rather get shit for free all the time, but some of us would rather pay but do not want to pay way too much. |
I use Video Games for Example. Games in America are way more Cheaper then here in Australia and that includes Retro Games. So why is it more Expensive then? _________________ I am Da Man |

When you say 'more expensive' what exactly do you mean?
at this moment, $100 Aussie dollars buys you $72 USA dollars. And $72 US dollars buys you $100 Australian.
Therefore if the USA price is $72 then the equivalent Aussie price is $100. So it's not really more, it's the same price.
Game cost in US money = $72
The same Game will cost in Australian dollars $100.
You may know this and be doing the calculations, if so I apologise. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

You have to compare apples with apples Dave.
Wages in the US are lower than here (do they even have a disability pension?).
Cigarettes are US$2 - US$3/pk.
Twinkies are US$1.19 for a 2 pack a pack of ten here is AU$35 (that's AU$7 for 2)
And you get free drinks at the tables in the Casinos in Vegas.
Meat was more expensive in the supermarkets from memory.
Petrol is US$2/gallon! Admittedly, a US gallon is about a litre less than an imperial gallon but it's still way cheaper than here @ AU$1.35/l
A new Mustang (base model) in the States is about US$16k, you won't buy one here new for under AU$45k. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

I'll give it a go if you will.
I can't do side flips so the odds are I'd land on the roof and become new owner of a Lambo with a caved in roof. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

No, not at all. You're stating how much cheaper some game is in the US, but you're not looking at the bigger picture.
They do have something....
Payments for SSI are made for the first day of the month, unless the first of the month is on a Weekend or a legal holiday, in which case the payment is made on the first day prior that is not a weekend or a legal holiday. The minimum benefit is $1 (USD).[34]
The SSI program, or Title XVI of the Social Security Act 1611, provides monthly federal cash assistance of up to $733 for an individual and $1,100 for a couple (as of 2015)[35] to help meet the costs of basic needs of food, shelter and clothing. In most states, SSI eligibility usually assures concurrent access to important medical coverage under the various state Medicaid programs and sometimes access to Section 8 housing benefits. In some states, supplemental payments are made by the state, increasing the cash assistance available through SSI. For example, the state of California, through its State Supplementation Program (SSP), increases the cash assistance, making the total 2015 SSI benefit $889.40 per month.

Cannabis is legal in many US states too. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count.

Average wage in Australia = $72,800
Average wage in the USA = $44,000 (aprox AU$57,000) _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

the general premise isn't bad but there's complications.
Smokes are so expensive here because the government taxes the shite out of them, booze similar.
Free drinks while gambling in Vegas are watered down compared to the same drink over the bar, and they aren't free cos if you want them to keep coming you need to keep tipping the waitress.
Cars have to be converted to right hand drive, which costs, and prices are set at what the market can afford with what used to be the local industry as the benchmark. Maybe now we don't build them here anymore, prices might go down. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
