I think there's a big future for women's footy, but it could take a decade or so to really be a great product. It needs time enough for talented pre-teen athletes to grow up with the aim of playing pro-footy and great junior development all through that period. We'll need to be patient.
As far as our team? Well, I'm surprised at how disappointed I am. I've spent my life supporting the club and those colours and it's harder to separate that terrible performance from the 'real' team than I thought it would be.
God help me if the senior side, the women's team and the netball side all suck at the same time. |
the first two probably will, the latter though will play finals for sure. |

At least we get the trivia question - 'Which team kicked the first ever goal in women's footy?'. |

Nothing to see here folks, move right along.
Gone as I had expected more or less, but 1 goal in 4 quarters is not only pathetic but pure rubbish!
Pure amateurs stick to playing down at Diamo...

Great anticipation, great feeling going with the throng & the crowd.
First 5 minutes or so were great.
Then we looked old & slow, they looked young & fresh
We had great seats in the nick of time.
15 minute quarters are a good idea as I was up at 5.15 am following on from a late finish the night before & have another early start tomorrow
Recruiting needs to be questioned & ultimately
Sack Buckley.
Looking forward to the next game to see how we can improve....

lol, they kicked the first goal of the game and that was it? Sounds like a true Collingwood side, did they let Buckley coach?
A joke of a competition that will die very quickly, suppose they have at least found the right time during the off season when the seriously obsessed fans would attend a game of u/12 footy if they advertised it! |

Those of us who were among the lock-out capacity crowd of 25,000 supporting Collingwood, for starters... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

What a joke, 1 goal. This wasn't a spectacle, just a novelty that will quickly fall away. Serious who would go and pay money to watch that. Waste of members money. At least when I watch womens basketball it is a seriously skilful sport, this on the other hand. Garbage! Sorry just my opinion. |

The women must have done their preseason with the boys.
Bombing long to a FF being doubled teamed most of the night.
Coughing up the ball switching into the corridor.
Allowing goals out the back.

I was proud of the way our team kept smashing them, ultimately their loose woman intercepts around Mo Hope destroyed the game as a spectacle. You were watching the 1980s Chicago Bulls when they only had Jordan, deny him the ball and you had them. We had no other real avenue to goal as no-one else could really kick more than 30 metres. Our backline stood up ok, mids weren't too bad but no forward line. My biggest disappointment was our second marquee, Emma King, the ruck. She didn't offer much and felt she got beaten by her more athletic opponent. But she is only 22, same age as Brodie. For me it was alot like watching Collingwood of the late 70s vs Carlton of the late 70s and the associated feelings were not great. _________________ Get back on top. |

We need to demand a royal commission into how it is that decisions have been made that have led to this tragic situation whereby Collingwood has been allowed to find a new way to LOSE TO #%$}ING CARLTON. |
