well, as if things couldn't get any worse for sunlun, it did when they were humiliated 2-0 by the north yorkshireman from monster smog city. about the only thing worse would have been to be beaten by newcastle. however, as badly as sunlun played, I am giving no credit to the smoggies, whose fans did not turn up, and who scored two lucky goals (both from errors by sunlun players) then defended for 70 minutes.

in truth though, sunlun is looking more and more like a Div 1 side, as opposed to a side that is aspiring to be among the top 6 in the premiership. the scariest thing was that the team reidy put out on monday was probably the strongest they've had all year...it even included the recently signed mcateer. and sven gorenson eriksson must have a jinx about him cos everytime he watches super kev, SPK invariably plays a poor game. everyone improved in the second half, but it was a piss poor effort all round.

it seems to be falling on deaf ears but peter reid must open the cheque books now and make some top signings. for years, sunlun have lived with this mentality of inferiority. now that success is within their grasp, they should really go for it. whether the skunks up the road, or the other teams in the league will admit it or not, sunlun ARE a big club. they have recently made a profit, unlike the majority of premiership clubs, their share prices have risen whereas man utd's have gone down, they regularly draw 48,000+ to the SOL, they have a great youth setup with the academy of light. and, despite recent poor performances, they still have the most in-form english striker after michael owen, in kevin phillips. it would be a shame to see him leave.

most importantly, they have the money to buy players, through the sale of players like don "I'm a bleeding sodding ingrate" hutchinson, et al.. it's not wrong to emulate the best clubs, it's not wrong to aspire to be the best. sunlun have the setup and support to do that. £7 million for sinclair is not good enough, they should spend in excess of £20 million ++. that is what it takes to be in the same league as manure, arse, chelsea, leeds and liverpool. even villa, spurs and fulham have spent big. sunlun must do the same. its bollix that the NE is a harsh place, that no one would come there. they just have to - as jerry mcguire says - SHOW THEM THE MONEY!!

HA'WAY THE LADS!!! BRING ON THE ARSE!!

It is understandable to lose to the Smog Monster. Charles Darwin has proved that inhabitants of Boro evolved under different selection pressure to the rest of the country's population, ie their eyes allow them too see through the thick layer of choking smog.

Don't worry junkboy, as Geordies are starting to look like a bunch of unorganised clowns as well, but you mackems wont get relegated, and we wont get relegated, but boro will get relegated. At least our lots get reasonable crowds through their gates.......

the smoggies would like to think that they play derbies with sunlun and newcastle but really, they are just a little town in yorkshire

seems ol' bobby is upping the ante for trev sinclair by matching sunlun's bid of £7 million but also including a few players like rob lee and solarno as bait.
