List the people on this site who support the Venezuelan Government or advocate the introduction of socialism.

The Silly Right's capacity for mischaracterising anything it fears as "communist" or "socialist" is perhaps the single most pervasive pre-internet meme in human history.

One only has to look at the posts in this forum to recognise the extent of that particular stupidity. There are, eg, a bunch of regular posters in here who seem to think that I am a founding member of Socialist Action. People who know me are generally bemused by this. Indeed, it is a source of occasional, wry amusement over cognac at my club.

There is no "left" on Nick's. There are just a few people on here who aren't knee-jerk reactionaries.

Demographics is, indeed, destiny.
It seems deliciously ironic that the end result of white, western colonisation is the massive influx of colonised peoples into western countries.

How people quickly forget the authoritarian regimes the USA has supported and the civilian deaths involved when they supported those regimes.
I do find it ironic that the US supported the likes of Pinochet, various regimes in Guatemala, The somoza dynasty in Nicaragua, El Salvadors various generals, Boliva, Paraguay, Iraq and Syrian governments, yet Trump can come out and point out the evil of Cuba, Iran and Venezuela. I would suggest the US has killed more innocent civilians through their involvement with the various regimes I listed than those 3 that Trump singled out at the UN.

^ you can do anything to truth if you remove enough context from it. The Cold War often seemed like an existential struggle between imperfect liberal democracy and an utterly mendacious totalitarian prison-state. As with the Second World War, sometimes you have to ally yourself with something very nasty indeed to defeat something far worse, and the US did. In retrospect it would have been better to avoid some such alliances, but retrospect is like that. Cuba, and Vz are just nasty little despotic poverty and oppression machines with no such justification.;

Trump doesn't care about Venezuela and it's people.

He cares about it's oil.

Good to see the God-Emperor focusing on the big socio-economic issues impacting upon his country:

He would do better commenting upon the hopeless efforts of the Giants' O-line.

It makes a nice slogan, but the US now produces ca 9m bbls/d and it is a net exporter of crude. So how and why does Donald Trump care about Vz's oil ? Does he want them to produce more than their present pitiful amount so the price can fall and reduce his country's net income ?

All Trump cares deeply about is vainglory and egotism. Pointing out that populist Socialist regimes are useless, abusive and corrupt probably burnishes DT's egotism a little. But it is hard to see why it'd have anything to do with oil.

Trump andf the NFL. Another Trump own goal. This has the potential to backfire in a huge way.

"....More than 100 players across the country on Sunday knelt during the national anthem or remained sitting in their locker rooms in protest. Most teams in the early afternoon games locked arms in solidarity, with at least three team owners joining their players...."

Trump: making China, Russia, North Korea & Iran great again.

I think there are bigger issues for Trump to deal with.

However, own goal? Maybe. Maybe not.
Trump is setting up a dichotomy between us (patriotic, flag-waving americans)
and them (spoilt, overpaid, america-haters).
It's what a demagogue does.

It will definitely recapture his base and, quite possibly, bring over undecided voters.

Recapture his deluded base? Sure it will.

Bring over undecideds? Not a shadow of a chance.

And of course there are bigger issues for him to deal with; he is stuffing them up comprehensively and everybody knows it. This is an exercise in "look over there!", nothing more, nothing less.
