"White trash" is sloppy shorthand. What WPT meant to refer to was "ignorant, indolent, stupid, unemployed, bigoted, deluded white people who should all be socialists but haven't got the political nous so instead voted in ridiculously large numbers for a member of the ruling elite in the mistaken belief that he might do anything to improve their pathetic lot and, in particular, have been confused into believing that their own incontinence is proof of the 'trickle down' effect."

^ Strange how such epithets are not applied to the self-destructive members of the black community. Perhaps they are honorary "socialists".

I think it is stupid to vote for Trump, partly for the reasons P4S suggests, but it is curious that people who profess liberal ideals should label poor people, white or black, "[insert ethnic identifier] trash."

I've already defined my terms for the use of the term- to the KKK'ers & like minded folk of the US and elsewhere.

Couldn't give a rats if they are socialist, black, whales or Louis Farrakhanists & company (black trash); Golden Lion - Greek trash, Meir Kahanists (Jewish trash)........ However, given I'm focussing on the types enabled by Trump then this applies especially to Illinois nazis.

The mainstream media feed you, what can only be described as conjecture, and you're all up in arms.

Did you get to the last sentence of the article before salivating over your keyboard?....

These conversations are conducted candidly, frankly, privately, Turnbull said at a news conference Thursday in Australia. If you see reports of them, Im not going to add to them.

And this quote... really, you buy this quote Laughing Laughing

At one point, Trump informed Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day including Russian President Vladimir Putin and that this was the worst call by far.

Rolling Eyes

I was a little sceptical at first, but this line convinced me:

Quote:
A senior administration official acknowledged that the conversation with Turnbull had been hostile and charged, but emphasized that most of Trumps calls with foreign leaders including the heads of Japan, Germany, France and Russia have been productive and pleasant.

Even without the specific words reported, that is already a jaw-dropping admission, particularly in light of Turnbull's earlier characterisation of the call as a friendly chat in which Australia got what it wanted (though I guess maximum spin is to be expected from politicians in such situations).

As for The Washington Post, they've had their errors of judgement like any publication, but it goes without saying that they're one of the most respected and rigorous newspapers in the US (and, indeed, the world). I find it very unlikely that they would print something like this without good reason to believe in its accuracy. It's also telling that Turnbull hasn't denied the reports or labelled them false, as one would expect him to do if they were made up.

One of the most respected and rigorous newspapers in the US you say?

This guy certainly adds to their credibility Laughing Laughing

Washington Post Hires UFO Enthusiast to Write Column

The former chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, John Podesta, has joined The Washington Post as a contributing columnist, the paper announced on Thursday.

Podesta, who also served as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and a counselor to President Barack Obama, has recently written two op-eds for the Post.

The Post says Podesta's columns "will provide commentary and analysis on the intersection of politics and policy, the Trump administration and the future of the Democratic Party."

Podesta likes UFOs almost as much as he likes progressivism. Indeed, just last year, the Washington Post had a piece on "The long, strange history of John Podesta's space alien obsession".

Now it gave him a job.

Democracy apparently dies in nepotism, bias and alien probes

The real reason we're not talking to the press. Anyone want to hazard a guess about whether the alt-right would turn a blind eye to this? Anyone got a dictionary handy and wanting to look up reason, spelt with a "t"?

OK, but "white supremacists" is not what it means in ordinary usage.

Washington Post Hires UFO Enthusiast to Write Column

Funnily enough, "UFO enthusiast" doesn't show up anywhere in the introductory paragraphs of his Wikipedia page. Could these perhaps be some of the reasons he was given the job?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Podesta

Quote:
John David Podesta (born January 8, 1949) is a columnist and former chairman of the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. He previously served as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and Counselor to President Barack Obama.

He is the former president, and now Chair and Counselor, of the Center for American Progress (CAP), a liberal think tank in Washington, D.C., as well as a Visiting Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center.

What he does in his spare time might interest muckrakers, but it hardly disqualifies him from commenting on areas he has expertise in.

Not to slight the people who write for the publications you get your news from, but "Professor of Law" is a slightly more impressive qualification to me than "Professor of Right-Wing Conspiracy Theories and Self-Published Amazon eBooks". I think we'll forgive the Washington Post for failing to hire one of those latter luminaries.

TRUMP: Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated.

It really is hard to know that little about the world, particularly following eight years of debate on America's backward, sub-standard healthcare system.

The horrific negligence of electing a complete rock ape because you're "angry" is right up there with the horrific negligence of invading countries and losing wars because, well, you're "angry".

"But I'm a real man and I was angry, so I shot my own face off".

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

Just a few more for your reading:

Jewish communities across 11 states received bomb threats in at least 16 Jewish centers and schools, making it the fifth wave of bomb threats since January; incidents occur just a day after yet another Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia was vandalized.."

The US put more money into health care per capita than any other country in the world, for some of the poorest results for the every day consumer. Their system needs to be thrown out and rebuilt from scratch but no one, not even trump, has the balls for that.

What makes Trump's cowardice worse is that he is passing up the best opportunity in US history by miles to rectify this core American dysfunction.

Obama has done much of the heavy lifting for him; he can blame "Obamacare" as a PR cover for making "tough choices"; his own rabid voters basically want single-payer even if by another name; old fanatical Republican arguments are currently on the nose; and more.

Yet, still the courage to wear some market disappointment from health sector investors is beyond him, even as his promises of tax and regulatory handouts excite the rest of the market. So important are populist metrics such as the Dow to him, he won't even venture to wear a minor hit from the healthcare sector.

But, again, that's true to the public record: Cowardly and narrowly concerned with self glorification.
