A lot of topics going on lately about best 22s, positives and negatives going forward, players returning from injuries, etc... but there's one man (or kid) that I've barely heard mention - the forgotten man of Collingwood - Brayden Sier.

I really hope he takes 2017 by the horns and takes some giant steps to becoming an AFL footballer. I have no expectations for him because I haven't seen him play, but I do hope he can develop some attributes that will make him an exciting elite footballer.

A year in the system and another preseason, hopefully he's shed the puppy fat and gets more involved. Very keen on seeing what he can produce next year. Not seen much, but he looks like a natural - quick hands and a footy brain. Good size too!

I don't know how much AFL he'll see in 2017, but I haven't forgotten about him. He wouldn't be in our best 22 right now, but you never know where he'll be half way through the year. He's 190cm and at 91kg, he's got the body to play at the top level. I guess the question is, is he fit?

I think it was reported at the time we drafted him, that we decided to take him a year earlier than he was expected to be drafted. Although, he'll be 19 in December, so I don't know how true that is.

Some questioned why we decided to use pick 32, but the club didnt want to risk seeing him go elsewhere. FWIW, our next pick was 58, 63 and 65 where we took Phillips, Wills and Crocker.

With players taken after Sier, there's so far no real stand out with perhaps the exception of mature age recruit Marcus Adams, who went at pick 35.

Hopefully we look back at this draft in ten years and say we nailed it.

It will be interesting to see how he goes in his first year, because that's basically what it will be.

Even when fit in 2016 he didn't look ready for VFL footy, let alone seniors, so just write off his first year at the club and rate him from now on.

Was always a project player type pick, so will be interesting to see how he develops this year.

Was another strange pick though, he is going to be an inside midfielder, do we really need another one of them?

Are you presuming our midfield won't get any injuries in 2017? Shocked

The Bulldogs just won the flag with 18 midfielders.

Effectively did not play a game of football after May 21st (Round 7 in the VFL), having been taken from the field early against North Ballarat in Round 14 with a nasty concussion and suffering a broken hand and back injuries either side of that.

Was flat out just breaking into double digits for disposals in the handful of games that he did play and should, by all rights, have been a TAC Cup player in 2016.

2017 will, injury permitting, be his catch-up/development year. Revisit in 12 months time. Even then, he really is 2-3 year project...

We won in 2010 with what was described as a team of ruck rovers.

I think the best we can hope for next year is flashes of talent and maybe 6 odd games, anything more will be a bonus.

Someone should start a thread about what number he should wear.

Siers body shape has changed, looks very strong & has obviously been working out. Good luck to him for 2017.

There's a photo pf him with others on BF that I assume is on the CFC website where he looks terrific compared to last year.

Let's hope he can remain injury free & be a our surprise packet

I admit I am only judging from afar but does anyone else follow Sier on Instagram? It seems like every photo is of him out with his mates getting pissed. Not a good look imo
