POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION FOLLOWING FIRE AT ABBOTSFORD

Friday, 23 December 2016 15:42

Yarra Crime Investigation unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a small fire at Victoria Park today.

It is alleged the fire started at the Abbot Street Park about 1.30am.

Investigators believe the fire started in two wheelie bins one of which has spread to the weatherboard ticket office at the base of the Lulie Street Grand Stand entrance subsequently destroying the ticket office.

It appears that the fires have been deliberately lit and police believe that someone may have witnessed the incident or observed person/s suspicious in the area.

The fire was put out quickly and is being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Police are appealing for public assistance and are keen to speak to anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity around the time of the fire.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Reports say that police are searching for a senile elderly man of slight build with silver hair seen leaving the scene of the fire muttering something about an ox and and a patient Earth.

Geez, bit risky exchanging circuits with those ATM machines. You don't know where they've been. Hope HAL used Alfoil on his probe.
