It was a bad day for Jordan Sniper Lewis. No third man up and a harder line on punching people in the stomach. His two best (and some argue only) attributes are being phased out.

Excellent change by the AFL. Protects ruckman from the gutless snipers such as Lewis and Hodge.

Yeah, cry us a river arse wipes. Laughing

Yeah that made my day!

As some one said, rather unfair timing, but hey, what do you expect from such a pathetic, corrupt, pig faced, cheating, unethical, laughable, vindictive, scumball self serving, pack of criminals called the AFL?

Something else we agree upon

Also Hurts our Mitch McCarthy who would been perfect 3rd Man Up

Assuming he ever gets up to standard to play VFL football.

So you think McCarthy is a Utter and Complete Hack and we wasted on someone that could not even play in the U-12's Rolling Eyes

If they didn't change rules Dave we'd still have; No centre square, no cameras on goal umpires for close calls, no interchange, boundary umpires with white hankies instead of whistles, goal & behind posts 20 metres apart & Captains awarding free kicks.... just to mention a few of the hundreds of rule changes over the years.

This is a good rule change. Cool

It's at least two fold.

1. Protect the ruckman from injury caused by collisions they can't see and should have to expect.
2. Make it easier for the umpires to officiate the rucking contests including when ruckman are penalised for "blocking" the person trying to be third man up.

It's a good rule, kudos to the AFL.

3 fold. To promote the role of ruckman and avoid the consequence of having teams of 6'4" running machines. The natural evolution of the 3rd man up was to totally nullify the effect of ruckmen at stoppages. You could have two midfielders competing for the ruck at a stoppage if all they are doing is acting as a launching pad for a 3rd man up from each team.

Aussie Rules has always been a game accessible for beanpoles and munchkins and every level between. That's a good thing to keep.

A good move which will improve the game.

Without third man up in 2011 Jordan Lewis doesn't feed Luke Ball the pill for the winning goal in the forward pocket.

AFL had to wait until Hawthorn had had their chance at four premierships in a row. They can change the rule now.

With Collingwood they changed the interchange rule straight after we won the flag.

First time in a long long time a rule change does not disadvantage us.
Looking at the stats, we dont have any player in the top 30 for 3rd man up hit outs.

I actually think if Grundy can play the full season he could make the AA team with this rule now in place.
