A very subjective exercise and no doubt the nay sayers shall "a come hunting". Maybe the following players are stiff to miss your side:

* De Goey
* Hoskin Elliott
* Scharenberg
* Phillips
* Broomhead
* Maynard
* J. Smith
* Oxley
* Mason C.
* Rupert W

Goldsack Dunn Smith
Ramsey Reid Howe
Sidebottom Pendlebury Crisp
Hoskin-Elliott White Mayne
Fasolo Moore Elliott

Grundy Treloar Adams

Wells De Goey Aish Broomhead

Emg: Cox, Shazza, Schade, Phillips, Varcoe, maynard, Wills,

One eye on the now, and one on the future...
Jury still out on Shazza's form, though hoping for him to push into side asap. Schade could pip Goldy for starting spot against talls.
If we only use these 29 players throughout the year, I'll be rapt.

I cant see goldy or white being in the team much next season, I think this new bloke kirby we just picked up may get an early go, he looks ready made. My best team would have to include the likes of treloar, pendles, hoskin Elliott, j Elliott, scharenberg, varcoe, sidey, grundy, de goey, ramsay, Langdon, dunn, crisp, moore, fasolo, keefe, taylor adams, for starters.

I was ready to delist white 12 months ago, but he had a v good 2nd half of the season - easily in our best 10 players - and gives us much needed size, experience, pace and ability below his knees. I'd actually prefer him down back, so unless Cox can really become a dominant forward for 4 quarters, he's the best option to partner Moore.

Goldy was hampered by injury last year, but when he did come back, he was v good. That - along with the fact that Langdon and Shazza are v much unknown quantities atm for best 22, makes me want him in there. Again, he's quick, experiinced and a v good kick. Hopefully he's got something to prove this year, as he was listed as elite 2 seasons ago as a def forward.

For mine the best part about our list this coming season is we have decent depth in a lot of positions and we have a few players who can cover a few roles. We also have some exciting players who have come on to the list which gives us a different dimension.
Going on the style we tried playing in the second half of the season and our trading/drafting I believe we are going to play run & carry style and be far more aggressive with out ball movement attempting to get the ball into our forward line quick giving us the best option to score.
With that in mind and being mindful of players coming back from long term injuries I think our rd1 team will look something like this.

B Maynard. Keefe. Howe
HB Varcoe. Reid. Ramsay/Scharenberg
C Wells. Treloar. Aish
HF Fasalo. White. WHE
F Sidey. Moore. Elliott/Mayne//DeGoey
R Grundy. Pendles. Adams

Int Greenwood. Crisp. + 2 of the players slashed above

A lot will be decided when we see how the injured players come back and how they perform in th preseason and trial matches. The half back line and midfield have loads of options and you could add in a few players and it wouldn't weaken the side at all

Several players stiff to miss and I'm betting form and match ups will determine our side on a weekly basis
I hope at the selection table players are rewarded for performance and conversely those who aren't playing well are given games in the seconds to find form

I'm actually liking our versatility with several players who can switch roles during a game

I'd like to watch a whole year of VFL next year, enjoying the likes of Daicos, Brown, Mackie, McLarty, Lynch and McCarthy and not put up with another year like 2016 where every senior player except for Scharenberg and Elliot (and every rookie except for Wyatt) was playing AFL games.

Here are my 22 that I would like to take into a finals series, assuming no injuries etc. Put them in whatever positions you like

Pendlebury
Treloar
Sidebottom
Reid
Adams
Aish
Degoey
Moore
Elliot
Wells
Mayne
Howe
Keefe
Grundy
White
Sharenberg
Hoskin-Elliott
Greenwood
Ramsay
Cox
Smith

As usual, players will pop up and demand games. I expect Blair, Crisp, Fasolo, Dunn, Maynard, Varcoe, Broomhead, Oxley, Phillips and Thomas to play a bit during the year.

I hope that one or more of the draftees or rookies jumps up and earns selection.

Really positive moving forward.

Btw: well said, E

I like it but geez we are possibly the slowest team on paper in the comp. A bunch of plodders!

White averaged 13.2 possessions and 1.4 goals in 2016, arguably his best ever form, playing KPF - 2nd ruck yet people think he'll struggle to get a game in 2017... seriously!

It's 1 thing to predict a player will surpass him, another entirely to omit him because of some ill-founded fickle dislike.

But this side has Sidey on the interchange we all know what happens after that from bench to emergency to VFL to Carlton looks like troubles for your love child.
Oh and Langdon would be in the best 35 players at the club

Just lol

Reckon there will be a lot of competition for spots next year, and good depth and flexibility. I expect guys in the "second 22" to push up and challenge for spots at times. Note, my selections are based on exposed form (not potential), so the likes of Shaz and Keeffe miss out, although I hope both become locks in our backline.

Best 22
Sinclair Dunn Howe
Maynard Reid Langdon
Wells Adams Sidebottom
Fasolo White WHE
Elliot Moore Mayne
Foll: Grundy Pendles Treloar
IC: Crisp Aish Broomhead Cox

Second 22
Ramsay Keeffe Oxley
Smith Schade Scarenberg
Phillips Greenwood Varcoe
DeGoey Goldsack Crocker
Blair McLarty Kirby
Foll: McCarthy Wills Thomas
IC: Sier Daicos Brown Lynch
