Think a bit of everything --a couple who could play ruck
Some who could be key defenders
And two of ex players boys

Also an indiginous live wire with possible X

At interveiw Kale remarked he was at pub when he heard he was drafted

Also remarked he think he would "Play round one kicking a few goals"

Yep. Totally agree with you. Of our four national draftees, Kale is the one who could debut next year. Hopefully the other three are ready to go in 2018. Of our four rookie draftees, Schade could come in and replace Reid, if Reid needs a rest next year. If anything happens to Grundy, Max Lynch has the body size and tapping ability to provide cover for him. McCarthy and Mackie are more long term, but both have the potential to play senior football if they work hard.

Very pleased we've used our Rookie list for the young backup talls. There's just no room on a main list for these types anymore. Seems to be a promising group as well, some chance we get an AFL player out of it.

The way it's unfolded, I think we've been smart. Got rid of talls who weren't working within our gameplan, replaced on our main list by Keeffe, Dunn and McLarty, three players who are better suited to our game style, all while saving a bucket of money. Then we've added the insurance talls on the Rookie list. We now definitely have enough talls, the question will be over quality.

Only issue I have is a lack of experienced backup ruck. The guys we've added have not yet proven themselves AFL ready. We do have a mix of options though and I guess 2017 is not a year we'll be competing for a flag so hardly a major issue.

^^ Agree Inky, we've put a lot of faith in Grundy remaining fit and Cox taking the next step but it is what it is. Will watch with interest the form of the rookie talls.

Henry Scharde may fill the bill as a second ruck as he has some AFL game time

Got the big body to handle hurly burly of AFL

Think he played predominantly as a 3rd tall unless injuries to other KPDs necessitated he take FB or CHB, and the main reason he was let go by GCS was his lack of physicality. A GCS supporter made the following post on BF

Tall enough to be a key defender but not strong enough. Hasn't managed to put on the required bulk and gets thrown about in contests too easily on the big forwards.

Played predominantly as a 3rd tall defender at the Suns. Has been in competition with McKenzie for the best 22 position since he was drafted.

Was in favour for a while in 2015 and showed glimpses. But fell out of favour big time with Rocket this season. Only played a handful of senior games.

Needs to work on his defensive rebound to add another dimension to his game. Just a traditional stopper at the moment. Has a nice kick just doesn't get enough of it. Reads the play well though and puts himself in the right spot for intercept grabs.

Still had 1 year remaining on his contract this year (expiring end 2017) but the Suns paid him out early to clear a senior list spot.

Good character though. And very friendly with the fans. Tassie lad. Wish him all the best and hopefully continues to develop into a regular senior player for you guys
:thumbsu:

Given all that, think Lynch and McLarty, even Keeffe, may be ahead of Schade to play ruck.
