Not sure what that says about the rest of the team though. |
Fairly sure he's our number 1 forward pressure player for the year.
He's best 22 now. Gone past Varcoe and probably Thomas. Putting on more pressure than Varcoe and actually getting the ball as well. A very good runner, evasive and uses the ball smartly. His only real weakness is depth of kick, I doubt he'll ever be a huge kick, but a good chance this increases as he gets stronger.
I once said he was our cleanest inside player and that he may be better inside than Adams . He's starting to get there. _________________ Well done boys! |

He should get some goal kicking practice with Peter McKenna: not just a short kick but missing too many easy ones too.
I kick very straight from behind this keyboard. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Callum has edged ahead of Thomas at present because to my eyes at least he's winning a higher percentage of ball in bigger moments and in more difficult contested situations.
He's comfortably ahead of Varcoe.
Brown is starting to play some good football but he also comes with the enthusiasm that youth and a player desperate to make a spot within the 22 his own provides and a good reminder of why sides even ones coming off a grand final should always keep looking for young players that might be ready to make an impression at AFL level.
It's a real pity players like Appleby, Murphy and T.Brown have had their development stalled at present due to injury as not only do we miss their contribution given that alongside Quaynor our VFL defence would have been stacked it could or would have forced us to trial some in different positions.
Our defence at AFL level is going to be real hard to break into so having a host of our more promising young talent all developing at half back probably needs to be addressed when they're all back playing. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

The comp has father —son situation across it and traits of the senior being evident in the junior in some cases
Gavin and son share the same tough courageous way they play

Getting better and better every week. Totally agree with Inkling: he’s in the best 22 now and shouldn’t be dropped under any circumstances. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Tracking nicely. Good to see people finally taking notice. Always showed talent but perhaps lacked confidence. He's going to be a beauty and just look out when his brother comes along too. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Just watched Game Day and one of his play’s I forgot was that smart kick over the pack to an unguarded Grundy in goal square—that show’s the kid can size up a situation and do the team thing _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I need to watch the replay. After watching it live I don’t recall him doing too much in the first half ( a good kick to Grundy in the 10 yard square. But he stood up when it counted. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

I had posted earlier in this thread that he virtually always starts on the bench ( which is why we don’t remember him early ) and this seems to allow him to finish out games strongly. Yesterday was another example of the above.
The club is doing the right thing by him. Don’t start him in the real heat and allow him to compete when the sting is out of the start. |

The kid is a goer. His tackling pressure is the highlight for me, as well as his in and under work. Hopefully, his kicking may yet improve. Definitely in our best 22 atm. Well done Callum. |

Cal is definitely best 22 now and going great. Well done on the club for persisting with him and especially well done Cal for repaying the faith. |
