Post subject: SEN talks of Stewart Crameri a pick up for us
|
According to SEN the 29 year old is out of contract (not expected to have one offered)
He missed footy due to hip injury but the doctor have given him the all clear
Rob Murphy claims "He's a beast"
Crameri said he is rareing to go _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I think any talk of adding another " top up " forward who plays tall, is going to depend on whether we retain Cox or not.
Crameri has the happy knack of scoring goals when he is fit but the modern game is so much about retaining the ball in your own forward fifty. He doesn't strike me as a very defensively minded forward.
All of a sudden, so much of our future forward and ruck strategies depends on Cox next contract. The club would want to know much sooner than later. |

He's not a 'tall' in the traditional sense.
He's a hulk of a man, more a big high half forward. Big kick, fast as they come. Smart around goal. Crashes packs and would take the load off Moore and co.
I like him.
If he has 3 years in his body, I'd offer him a deal. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Would only want him cheap and only if we cleared Mayne - if we are interested it look like that's what we'll be doing as they'd be playing a similar role.
If he's fit he'd be a decent option to take pressure off Moore. Would prefer someone younger but you can't control who's available and he is a free agent. _________________ Well done boys! |

Casboult would be far better but would also cost more. _________________ Well done boys! |

I'm sure this is tongue-in-cheek, but :https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-carlton-blues--levi-casboult
I've far from convinced that he is the saviour. _________________ All We Can Be |

Crameri is a third tall and would handy if he could recapture the form he displayed from 2011 to 2015 where he kicked over 30 goals in each of those seasons. He isn't going to be the number one tall, but rather, he's a good recruit to complement other talls around him.
Although, some have argued that as the game has become progressively quicker, the game has left him behind, and this has been accelerated with his long absence.
The worry is that he hasn't properly played since 2015 due to the drug suspensions imposed on him and 33 other players in 2016 and this year having a season-ending injury earlier in the year for the Dogs.
He would be an upgrade to Mayne in my mind with both being similar heights, but Mayne's decline has been rapid. Crameri is the unknown as we've seen very little of him for two seasons. I would be happy to take him provided he doesn't cost us too much.
I also wouldn't be against us going after Casboult. His goal kicking has improved under the guidance of Sav Rocca and he has a decent set of hands. He's still a player prone to comical errors, but we're crying out for a key forward of some sort.
I don't think the status quo can remain with our current forward line structure, without recruiting a proper tall forward whether that's Casboult or someone else. Moore is still young and we can't expect him to shoulder the burden of the forward line. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Quote: | Collingwood could look to solve its forward dilemma by recruiting out of contract Western Bulldog Stewart Crameri.
Crameri only managed two senior games in 2018 due to ongoing hip issues, but Sam McClure believes that the Magpies are showing interest in pairing him with Darcy Moore.
“I think Collingwood are asking the question about Stewart Crameri,” he said on SEN Breakfast.
“He’s out of contract at the Western Bulldogs. He’s just turned 29.
“His best and most consistent years with both Essendon the Western Bulldogs he was a mid-30s goal kicker (and) the Pies are looking for a partner for Darcy Moore to have a two-pronged attack up there.”
Former Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy said he believes Crameri still has a lot to give, but his injury woes have meant that he hasn’t been able to be at his best.
“As far as physical, raw talent – he’s a beast,” he said. |

His goal kicking has improved under Sav Rocca
Would Sav be good helping out our goal kicking _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I think we need a full-time goal kicking coach, and it was evident we were deficient in this area especially earlier in the season.
It's a pity we got rid of Ben Dixon at the end of 2016 who was working with us on a part-time basis. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 |

I don't think Beveridge rates him for whatever reason. Remember he joined the Dogs the year before Beveridge became coach.
Beveridge has had issues with a very dysfunctional forward line which he hasn't been able to click in his time as coach with the Dogs despite winning the flag last year. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023
