Plenty of opportunity if we can construct a forward line structure that has synergy.
Injuries are no excuse as the depth and versatility of the list is phenomenal.
If Walshy can take over selecting the best 22 and someone works out where to play em we may be ok.
All Bucks needs to do is praise the bejeezus out of the list and fill them with confidence.
100% of the time personally take the blame immediately when anything goes wrong and stay low profile whilst giving them full credit for anything positive.
He has improved in these areas but when he fails at following these guidelines it has resulted in devastating periods of team performance.
North, Hawthorn, WestCoast certainly look vulnerable whilst Melbourne, Essendon and StKilda look at least AS threatening as us.
Clear and disturbing weakness in the list is a heavy reliance on Grundy and Moore. Why we did not end up with an Aaron Black or Nathan Vardy or Stewart/Richards must demonstrate enormous faith in Keefe/Cox/White.
Wells is another early concern - it's a huge investment and it has started terribly. With Walsh on board we should be able to handle whatever eventuates better and we all remember Howe recovering brilliantly.
The loss of Witts and Cloke for not a lot will be a blessing or our downfall, not injuries or drug scandals or umpiring.
The senior coach must be held primarily accountable for this list, this fitness team, this coaching panel.

23/1/17 report courtesy of Schupie @ Bigfooty:
Just got to training - it's v hot so player (+ spectators) feeling it
Fortunately, it's a great ground to watch footy at unless it's rainy or sunny...loving the cover
On the far side so I can't see much - there's diff groups doing set up / in close drills - Cox rucking
Running laps / sprints
- Langdon+ Broomy together
- Reid + McL
All working hard
Just saw Wells run past at a real clip so that's good
- Crocker looks bigger and ripped : really running hard laps
Most played had been doing a match type sim now in 3 equal sized groups
- mids in centre of ground doing a lot of stoppage clearance work
- backs developing backline exits
- forwards on entry and roving (Cox just did an amazing front and centre gather to sprint for a goal)
Forward group today
Fas
Cox
Lynch
White
McC
Billy
Brown
Keeffe!
Darcy
Mayne
Reidy doing a lot of instruction work w McL
Sammy soaking it all up
Now ball kicked to them w Reid playing the forward - Reid coaching him re positioning / punching etc
Great to see
jDG w mids
Haven't spotted KK yet - will look for him in next drill
Today's a bit warm, more a reassuring back- pat type day
Boys about to go to full ground match work
JDG w the first clearance handball to Pendles
Actually....I think it was him
With full match sim, he's now doing a lot of run training (so wondering if it was him)
No KK or Treloar today
Haven't seen him [Sier] - must be inside
The boys are v hard to tell apart when wearing generic tops - most wearing caps and tons of sunscreen. I keep thinking to myself that a certain player did something great only to have someone call out a completely diff name _________________ All We Can Be |

And courtesy of BucksIsFutureCoach a training report from 25/1/17:
Got bored today so went through the tennis crowd to watch the boys train today. Big crowd showed up to watch a lot of simulated match play being played, the highlight being two 15 minute halves being professionally umpired.
Unfortunately the players are still not wearing numbers on their backs which makes it very hard to pick up the players. For all I know Kirby and Scharenberg were out there. Only I was unable to pick up either player.
The highlight for me was watching Grundy in the ruck. This time last year both Witts and Cox were thrashing Grundy at the centre contests. This time it's the other way around. Grundy is giving both Cox and Lynch a lesson in the ruck. Cox however is very good around the ground. Makes good ground and marks well, then kicks to position. Don't expect anything from Lynch this year. His time will come in 2018 onwards.
Speculation about Well's fitness is a beat up. He played the first 15 minute half and showed just why we recruited him. He's an elite player who never wastes a kick.
Schade looked really good at half back. He has good height and running ability and kicks the ball to position. He may well get a call up during the year in the seniors.
Callum Brown is a superb player who gets the ball at will and always does something with it. When he eventually gets a senior game, expect on average 25-30 disposals a game from him. Daicos isn't far behind him but is a different type of player. Daicos has beautiful centre of gravity like his father, but it's difficult to assess whether his best position is back or forward.
Expecting big years from Crisp and De Goey, who both looked good today. Greenwood and Blair were both looking good as well.
Treloar is a freak. Pendlebury could work his way blindfold through a minefield.
Reid, McLarty and Crocker were doing kick to kick around the perimeter. Both Reid and Crocker don't look too far away. McCarthy spent the first 10 minutes or so in general practice until reverting to running sprints. He jumps high and has a quick reaction time. He could turn out the pick of last years' draftees, but I wouldn't expect much from him this year.
The greatest disappointment out there today is Broomhead. I had hoped he would be starting to mix it again with the main group but he was only running sprints out there today. Sier is only on a slow mend but at least because he is only a second year player, he deserves some slack. _________________ All We Can Be |

Game day! (intra-club)
Looking forward to watching this on the live stream.
Wells will play. No Ben Reid apparently.
My AFL Prospectus arrived yesterday and I'm wading through that and will post some additional information/comments in my main post shortly. _________________ All We Can Be |

Just read through that mammoth OP again! That's amazing work!
So this Schade, is he any good? Sounds like what we need, even if green. Even though Brown was slow, he was strong, and I'm worried about our backline without him. Hoping Adams can really step up into the backline general role we really need to fill. Be perfect fit if the one day captain rumours are true, Mary did an awesome job from back there. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
