So this Schade, is he any good? Sounds like what we need, even if green. Even though Brown was slow, he was strong, and I'm worried about our backline without him. Hoping Adams can really step up into the backline general role we really need to fill. Be perfect fit if the one day captain rumours are true, Mary did an awesome job from back there. |
Thanks.
My best guess is that Schade would be depth most likely. I'd expect guys like Dunn, Goldsack and Keeffe to get a run deep back on the talls ahead of Schade. Only 48 hours and we will start to get a glimpse of what the coaching staff are thinking. Our backline will have fewer "stoppers", but should be more mobile and provide a better counter-attack. _________________ All We Can Be |

Disappointing news about Wells.
Quote: | Daniel Wells suffers another injury setback, battling to be fit for Round 1
Collingwood recruit Daniel Wells has suffered another injury setback and is highly unlikely to play Round 1, says Mitch Cleary.
The Sportsday newsbreaker said the former North Melbourne star "hobbled off" the ground during a scratch match this week after a knock to his calf.
"He's only been completing 70 to 75 per cent of the pre-season to date," Cleary explained on 3AW Drive.
"As it sits, he won't be playing Round 1." |

Well it's not like we signed him on big money for more than a season! _________________ All We Can Be |

It may not be, MB, but it feels more poetic than, say, "What the f$&@ were those ar$&hats thinking when they took this broken-down hack that was considered too old even for the Pauperoos on a f($&ing 37 year contract at $23 million per season???!!!!" |

Buckley last night in post-game presser [re: Wells]: "He's good ... we didn't take any risks and pulled him after two quarters ... he will train this week". _________________ All We Can Be |

Whoa!! Is it my imagination or are the injuries really starting to mount at other clubs? Wells, Elliott and our others seem mild by comparison. Perhaps we are finally going to get a break. Touch wood, fingers crossed, garlic around the neck, silver bullets, holy water and every Buddhist amulet in my possession (and I have hundreds) are in place. _________________ No one needs to get hurt, it's only business. |

Buckley is doing whatever it takes to keep him satisfied.
Does he do that for the rest of the list too? |

Horses for courses mate. Wells is 32 after all, so he is going to have to be carefully managed if we are to get a decent return from him. |

I'm sensing a "Swoosh" here.

Wells played 19 games in 2016 if i'm not mistaken and led the kangaroos (a team that played in finals) in brownlow medal votes. He is certainly a risk due to age and prior injury record (although 19 games in 2016 might be evidence that he's not dead yet). with all that said, i might agree that you can exaggerate here and say "broken down" and "old".
But a hack????? Dumbest comment maybe ever made on Nicks.
The guy is an out and out gun. One of the most talented players in the league. Game changer, Difference maker. Might be the best player on our list when fit (some might argue pendles is slightly better and perhaps Sidey and Treloar are on par, but no-one else is better than him).
We keep bitching that we miss out on the gun players. We complain that the hawks recruited Lake who took them to a couple of flags. and then, when we take the same brave chances that the Hawks took, somehow everyone starts screaming WTF.
You will never be satisfied. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
