Anybody see the Foxtel A4 colour flyer asking $111.00 per month for cable, unlimited broadband and unlimited local & STD calls on your land line?

I'm currently paying these idiots at Telstra $120.00 per month for broadband and landline [no Foxtel currently], so it certainly warrants investigating...

I'll look into that, thanks

that would not include the sports pack.
I pay 70 dollars a month for unlimited broadband and all phone calls including fixed line, std and mobile calls from the fixed phone with TPG.
Plus 50 dollars for foxtel.
That makes 120 dollars per month.
with your deal it will be 111 dollars plus 25 dollars sports pack for a grand total of 136 dollars.
One thing is clear ... Telstra are the dearest at everything.
I have vowed never to uss Telstra again.

I really think some of you should come into this century.

Foxtel expensive ?

I have the standard package plus Fox Sports/Fox Footy for footy, AFL 360, On the Couch etc. cricket, F1, V8 Supercars, golf, tennis etc. and a couple of other packages including movies, History, Nat Geo. etc.

It's still under $3 per day.

What's a schooner of beer in the pub ? $5 ?

Can of bourbon & cola ? $8 ? $10 ?

Even if you buy a slab of beer, it's around $2 a can.

Not saying everyone drinks. It's simply for comparison.

Pay TV was, initially, excellent. No ads.

Now, ads galore. Thankfully, none in movies or during play in the footy.

Still, the best $3 daily spend for me.

Actually, second best.

Of course this varies but I run my TV, computer, refrigerator, stove, lighting, PA, guitar amps, stereo on $3 per day, give or take.

Well,if you like Foxtel,Donny, then that's fine. But there's a lot of people out there who don't like it and don't want it,but that doesn't necessarily mean they're stuck in the last century. It all gets back to freedom of choice, and how you decide to spend your own money.

Anyone have an AFL live pass? Are they any good? Can you stream the games?

They had the games live on there, I was watching them while I was at the local footy. It was a great service. Even better on Telstra I didn't use any data to run it.

Depends where you live, outside of a major city FTA is still shit and Foxtel is not always available

Totally missed my point, Doris.

It was specifically in response to posters stating it was expensive.

I don't recall mentioning any 'like' or not, other than what I said about when it first started - re. no ads.

Love it.

I've had it for well over 10 years and swap between the movie channels in Summer to sport, for the footy in winter. This works well as I only have to pay for 1 package all year round.

Had Foxtel for years, got the full package and wouldn't go back.

Apart from the footy, the IQ3 lets me stream on demand, all the CW superhero TV shows the day after they hit the USA, other sports shows etc. I have it out the back as well for the old girl.

Costs me more for smokes for a week than it does Foxtel for a month.

In Thailand I have a cable deal that is around 200 dollars a year which includes the Australia plus channel which is 5 0r 6 games a week (No thursday). My internet is unlimited at 35 dollars a month and have 4 outlets for cable and the internet is used constantly and today I watched all the Flemington races live plus the cricket on my laptop, the Australian Telcos are robbing you blind.

It's going to get interesting as international sports become more popular. This seems to becoming more the case with NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL from the USA gathering more aussie fans and other international sports gathering attention. Most of these have very limited FTA coverage. Less F1 on FTA every year and some of the golf majors don't have decent coverage on FTA. Foxtel has most of these so if you are interested in them all then it's great value. I understand Optus screwed EP which was on Foxtel. There won't be much left on FTA soon other than local comps and this won't be as comprehensive as the pay options.
The season pass for a team or sport or is encouraging but that seems expensive at the moment.
Really I think Foxtel is pretty good value for sports and they are being forced to get more competitive. I am pretty sure with Play you can get basic plus sports for about $40 a month and can drop sports, or the whole thing, in and out each month.
