I remember feeling about the same after the draw for 2010 came out. Felt like we got shafted a bit. Gotta beat the best to be the best.

I think our draw is harsh, the AFL play favourites with clubs whom they deem can add dollars to their coffers. They don't care about us and treat us like Sh-it. Gillon Mc-who-gives-a-&%%& proved that today with his monotone and offensive explanation of why our draw is what it is. They all hate us, which is why I hope we show them why we are the biggest club in Australia in 2017.

This!!!!
This is exactly what a lot of posters don't quite comprehend.
You must be the best of the best.
Not just good or excellent or great ...but you need to be the best.

Jesus was a man, not a god. I have no desire to nail anyone to a wooden cross, watch the RCH fundraiser or any religious themed movies so I'm happy to watch North Melbourne.

Really? The way North Melbourne just crucified four loyal disciples? Confused

Certainly not the best fixture in various aspects, but far from the worst of I've seen either.

I'm happy that our Melbourne-based supporters are not subjected to any twilight matches on either Saturday and Sunday. I was concerned we'd see a repeat of 2014 but thankfully that has not come to fruition.

A little disappointed that we don't have a lot of prime-time time slots, but understandably we've underperformed in the last three years so we'll have to earn the respect and right to recapture those time slots. It does irk me though that Essendon has a better fixture in terms of the commercialisation aspect of the fixture even though they've brought the game into disrepute in the last few years.

I've always liked the Saturday afternoon time slot even though it's not everyone's cup of tea due to having other commitments, but it's a nice reminder of how football used to be this before it was played all weekend.

There's too many Sunday games for my liking, but I can live with both the 1:10pm and 3:20pm time slots so it's not all that bad, but it's not the best time to play football.

A little annoyed that we're playing two top six sides twice despite being in the 7-12 category and other teams in that category only play 1 top six side twice.

The recurring issue of home games at Etihad Stadium lingers, but it's very annoying seeing us play a Etihad tenant in St.Kilda as one of our home games in round 4. I don't mind us playing at Etihad provided we're the away team, so it's something I'd like the club to address in the near future. Our aim should be 11 home games at the MCG.

I was somewhat surprised that we're playing Carlton on Saturday May 6, as opposed to Sunday May 7 when the 125th anniversary of the club's foundation officially took place. It's only the second time since 1966 that we're going to be playing Carlton only once during the home and away season (the other year being in 1991).

The only other cause of concern I can see is the five-day break we'll endure after the ANZAC day game when we play Geelong who will have the luxury of a seven-day break.

Also, the difficulty of our fixture has been overblown by the media. Last year, Adelaide was supposed to have the draw from hell but they coped without any issues, so how the media can already determine the nature of our draw is nonsensical.

Some clubs will rise and others will drop off inevitably, but every year there's an automatic assumption that nothing will change ladder wise from the previous year. To be honest, a difficult draw is one that should be embraced rather than one we should fear. If we're good enough, we'll overcome any obstacles along the way.

Very Happy Nice work Jessa.
Now for the wishes!
WE must beat the blues on May the 6th! I don't care if we drop either the game against the Cats or the GWS but we have to take that one home!!!!!
Apart from that game I am hoping we come on next year.

Booted from prime time and less free to air games but the club will always put a positive spin on it. it's all about the families next year.

Gary Pert......

“This year’s theme is all about families. We’ve listened to the feedback from our supporters … we’ve worked with the AFL and 16 of our games are either during the day or twilight.”

Oh geez thanks Gaz.

Great for families who can go to the footy, not great for families that support this club via TV.

I notice the AFL has not put up the non Melbourne broadcast guide. If you think you are getting screwed on pay TV v free to air in Melbourne suggest it will be nothing compared to everyone in other states.

it's the whole point, the afl want Collingwood bums in seats at the ground, tv ratings money is already in the bank for the afl, Collingwood seat money on the other hand, besides if they can get an increase in crowd numbers the afl board members will no doubt make their performance bonuses.

I love it when this comment comes out " gotta beat the best" "if we are good enough" blah blah blah

Everyone knows that a good draw ( see Geelong hone games ) plays the biggest part of getting to the finals

FACT!
