Saturday arvo games not good for us as kids playing footy and netball.
U19s footy may luck in for a morning time slot, netball will be 1.30pm so hoping for a bye otherwise no manager/part time coach for that game as I will be a the Pies game.
Looks like we may be sharing our spare seats around other family members next season.
Glad only 2 home games at Etihad. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

Ummm I prefer to play the gf teams in the first 3 rounds. Lack of preseason and injuries would still rule out players.
Much prefer over later in the season for sure. |

And getting Carlton only once for the first time since 1991[?] is somewhat disappointing. |
First time since 1966, apparently. |
Hate to labour the year with you, my great crime fighting friend, but in 1991 we definitely only struck them once, and lost.
I think we have played them twice in all the years since then... |
Aha, it seems you were correct. I was only going off of something that came up elsewhere. Pardon begged... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Saturday Afternoon games are bad for me as well, working local footy every weekend means I will be watching a lot of them on replay it seems. _________________ Ðavâgé

So, what is the point of an AFL season in which Collingwood plays Carlton just once? |

Doubt we even get that, his injury ravaged body to last 6 games before it faces us, unlikely.
May not ever see him play against us again, which wouldn't be a bad thing. |

Yep same here probably won't be able to go to any Saturday afternoon games. Wont go down well if I skip the kids basketball games to go to the footy. Be watching it on the iPad though _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

If the AFL is determined to have the pre-finals bye, there should be know reason they can't schedule all of the Round 23 games now? Seems odd.
If we can start 2017 like we finished 2016 form wise, we could get some morale boosting wins that bring the fans out. Looking forward to playing Freo in Perth. Hope Mayney kicks five that day. _________________ Taobh le taobh bata muid le chéile |

6 fkn Sunday games in Melbourne. | Yep, I was looking at the games I can get too. 5 home games. Sunday 4 home games. I might get to the Bears as it's a 1.10pm start. As for the rest I will stay at home and watch TV. |
Yep. I'll be with you guys on the couch in front of the TV for the Sunday games. I'll bring the scotch. _________________ #TEAMBUCKS

How does finishing 12th for 3 straight years entitle us to play 2 top 4 teams from the previous season twice ?
|
For anyone who hasn't read up on how the "draw" works.
At the end of the season teams are split into groups of 6 (not sure if it's H&A finish or after finals). Either way we were out of finals so ended up in the 2nd group of 6.
To "even" it up, the bottom six can only double up a maximum of one top six side and visa versa. Outside of that I think it's a maximum 3 match ups in your own group and 2 match ups in the adjacent group.
So... looking at our draw:
Geelong/Hawks (top six)
Melb/Port (middle six)
Essendon (bottom six)
It's just the way it is. If we're good enough the fixture won't matter. _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Not sure where the tough draw comments come from. We are competing with these 5 teams for a finals spot so its good we have a chance to beat them twice rather than rely on other teams to win / lose.
