about to be released. aside from knowing the round 1 opposition, we get the hawks twice. i feel we're closing the gap. our best chance yet to break the recent drought against this mob. i'd expect to see the gws twice.

How does finishing 12th for 3 straight years entitle us to play 2 top 4 teams from the previous season twice ?
Surely we would be due to play the teams who finished below us twice like the Lions Suns etc
This draw each year astounds me more and more. North last year after a finals appearance played every team outside the 8 from the previous year once and some twice yet we didn't how does it work out like that ?

No complaints, teams we play twice:
- Port
- Geelong
- Hawthorn
- Essendon
- Melbourne

Only play Dogs, GWS, Sydney and Adelaide once.

Commercially it's a terrible draw, only 5 prime time TV games (night games on FTA TV) but we have earned that with terrible performances in the past few years.

Pretty fair draw toughness wise, no excuses, if we don't play finals we can't cry about the draw.

The club must be rapt. Any drop in membership can now be blamed on the scheduling.

it's not top four but top eight teams that we'd play twice. i would have thought we'd get gws twice given our parallel development timelines and also the afl wanting to maximise ges' exposure. clearly, the afl sees us a minnow now.

Absolutely, if we don't make the finals, the draw will have nothing to do with it.

One meeting with Carlton for a change, the 125th anniversary game (which doesn't actually fall on the 125th anniversary of our first ever game, coming on May the 6th instead of the 7th) and it just so happens to be a Fox Footy exclusive game.

Last time that happened was/will be almost a decade ago to the day.

For those who can't quite remember it clearly, it was the one where Wakelin kicked his only goal in black and white.

Just the silly little things that come to mind when perusing the fixture...

Are we The SS Minnow , stranded with Gilligans draw ?
