Under the circumstances (Tapping walking out on a contract) this is a good appointment.
Yes it's highly doubtful that he will be as effective a coach as Tapping was, but I listened to Rivers a lot in the 1/4 time and 3/4 time huddles this year and he seemed like a really intelligent modern day development coach. |

I remember him starting his career as a super-talented early draft pick. Showed signs of brilliance, but was most famous for never realising his potential. Still he might be a great coach, it's just not our habit lately to replace great people with better ones. Still haven't looked at how we managed to lose Tapps after he did such a great job.
