The most important part of this role is to get the VFL team playing in the same way that we want the AFL team to play, so if and when a player gets called up to the AFL side they can step into the AFL side and play their role.

Consequently, we will get a coach that is best suited to putting this into practice.

Good luck to Tapping in another step up in his Career. .......

Gavin Brown doesn't want to be a senior coach.
Taps is a massive loss, the boys will be spewing. Hopefully we get him back one day

What a massive over reaction by posters! hows this a massive loss? he was VFL coach who got thumped by 100 pts in his last game??? if we only knew that promoting Tipping to Bucks coaching team was all it would take to go to the GF!!!

..........
If you have another view then by all means share it without feeling the need to dump.

..........

Almost of all us have acknowledged Tappings role ( and a few posters here have an active connection with the VFL team) & wish him well into the future.

Only got the VFL team to the PF but either way I don't know that you've addressed his suggestion that hypotheticals are essentially just that, and that he doesn't see Taps leaving as angst worthy.

PF that's true, but I wouldn't merely say "only"

The angst that is over reaction is not the case here even by Andrew T. Concern yes. Angst no. Most here have acknowledged his role & wished him well.

Will be interesting to see who we do get to fill the role.

By the sound of it he didn't 'only' get the team to a prelim, he wasn't given a realistic chance to win it! Didn't those who went to the game say the players were already on holiday?

I remember a team storming home through the season. Wish him well. Good on him

Ive been a little concerned about the good people that are leaving including Balme.
This though has me very worried.

We let Craig McCrae go last year - I believe this was about footy cap and we had Steve Grace - a well credentialed development of youth, and I thought Dale Tapping would take over this senior role given most kids are coming through the VFL.

WE now have no McCrae, Grace or Tapping........ who is heading up the development program ?

As posters so eloquently point out in discussions about Bucks, isn't it Taps role to motivate the team? I don't see the PF result as a negative against Taps, just a reflection of the fact we'd run out of players and puff.

And yes, "only" is the correct term. Doesn't in any way diminish the performances of the team to reach the PF given the injury issues to both AFL and VFL squads throughout the season and into finals. It's just a fact.

it's the only reason we have a vfl team.
