Here's a blow, our very good VFL coach, Dale Tapping, has been offered an assistant coaching role in Brisbane, and has taken it.

Thanks for everything Dale, you gave us regular VFL watchers something to look forward to every week, no matter how the seniors were going.

Agreed. Doesn't sound further from the truth.

This would be a case of Tapping seeing this as the next step towards being a senior coach. End of story.

Might even be the next step in Tapping taking over at Collingwood if we are unsuccessful in 2017.

We said MB. Big loss.

Hopefully he does well & we do even better.

Couldn't agree more, good luck to him, did a great job with our VFL side and has earned an assistant role. Shame there wasn't 1 available at the Pies and he's had to look elsewhere.

Good luck to Tapping in another step up in his Career. Getting closer to the top job and the way Brisbane go through coaches, his senior gig could be real soon. I read nothing into his departure other than he wants to be an AFL coach and that won't happen for him at Collingwood. Just ask Gavin Brown and Alan Richardson both who wanted to but knew it would not happen.

Gavin Brown doesn't want to be a senior coach.
Taps is a massive loss, the boys will be spewing. Hopefully we get him back one day

What a massive over reaction by posters! hows this a massive loss? he was VFL coach who got thumped by 100 pts in his last game??? if we only knew that promoting Tipping to Bucks coaching team was all it would take to go to the GF!!!

Actually I think it's great news that we're giving assistant coaches the opportunity to develop their coaching skills at Collingwood to move up the chain of command at other clubs as the opportunity presents itself. I hope Lockyer goes back as coach of the VFL side as he's a vastly improved coach from the first time round and would be nice to see Anthony Rocca a bit more involved with VFL side as well.

Once again I find the chest beating that goes on when someone "Moves ON" not leaves, breathtaking.Hawthorn can "Churn OUT'" coaches from "Clarko's stable" and everyone pats him on the back and wishes them well but HERE!!!! It's all WTF is going on.Blue with Buckley!! Someone upset him.He is a RESERVES coach, not even an assistant and was probably not what was needed so he saw an opportunity and moved on, just like people here should do.Move on!!!

It's a loss but I'm happy for him.

If he has true aspirations of one day gaining a head coaching role he needs to make the step to being part of an AFL coaching staff and it sounds like he's found that role at Brisbane.

Good luck to him and hopefully he's got a top job in the AFL within a few seasons. Thanks Dale!
